If flying on FF points how does your credit card travel insurance cover you? (if it does)

It would be good if they now allow two one way tickets. Need to make sure to have it in writing though.

I called and they again advised that 2 one-way tickets would be fine. They were happy to send confirmation via email.

In case useful to anyone, I just enquired about the eligibility of the complimentary travel insurance that comes with HSBC Premier World Mastercard.

The PDS requires "at least 90% of the total cost of the cardholder's overseas return travel ticket (i.e. ticket from and returning to Australia) has been charged to the accountholder's Card account".

I rang Allianz and they said "this PDS has been very carefully worded" and that because it does not refer to the usage of points in redeeming the return travel ticket, the "total cost" must be read to include not just the taxes, but also the points. So basically, if you're using points to redeem flights (even if you pay for the taxes using your HSBC Premier Mastercard), the credit card travel insurance will not apply.
