If I were AJ...

If I were AJ... I would travel to the US and fly Jet Blue. Then steal the things that separates this airline from their competitors...Such as the" extra leg room" and "even more space" products in Y.

If VA are coming after your market, then actually get into the market to find out what is wanted and make it even harder for va to get close.

The majority of businesses in Australia send their staff interstate and overseas in Y. After 20 years of corporate travel whilst working for Australian, UK and USA companies, the number of paid J flights I've had can be counted on one hand. But every single time I had the choice to use the BA Y+ product I did, generally at my cost of a few hundred more per sector.

I try very hard to use QF as my first option... But the QFi product is scheduled poorly, has limited options and is expensive. Recent MEL-SIN return is example. The QF product leaves early evening and flies overnight, whilst SQ have 3 flights a day that allow for management of arrival times.

AJ - Completely rethink the international Y+ product. Do you really need a different food option, or check in, or a curtain? I simply want some leg room, shoulder room maybe. And for that I will pay more money... On top of the best fare I can get on the day. Not 3-4 times the best economy fare on the day I book.

Is this thread about Alan Joyce or VA?

If I were Alan Joyce I would resign and allow someone who knows how to run an airline take over for the good of Qantas and it's customers.

Interesting comment.

They do not want to be seen as a LCC yet function exactly like a LCC with the amateurism on display clearly for all to see.

You're statement holds a small amount of truth, however, compare them to TT or JQ. They're streets ahead.

No one is saying there aren't going to be 'growing pains' as such for DJ, but they're going out of their way to make an effort. Agreed the end of ATA and lack of notification is very poor, it's not necessarily 'amateurish' either.

I'm staying with DJ for all my domestic travel (where possible) from now on. They treat me better and with more respect or professionalism than QF do, on an overall basis.
