1. would QF charge me for a replacement? i am guessing yes...
2. No way i can get into lounge without it? say domestic lounge...

thanks :p (from a gumby who *might* have lost his card..... ;))

Your status (including Qantas Club) should be printed on your boarding pass. That will get you entry.

Contact the QFF/Qantas Club service centre and ask for a new card. Why on earth would you think they will charge you for it?

Because they do and they are Qantas:
Replacement Card costs 10 Bucks or 1000 Points!
Frequent Flyer - About the Program - Terms & Conditions

Fee waived if card is stolen:
Lost or stolen Frequent Flyer cards

Access on QF and BA is not a problem (been there, done that). OK BA is a problem for QF-Club members now...

Forgetting about the issues with BA lounges for a second, I can assure you in the 4 years I lived in London and used BA lounges they always insisted on seeing my membership card even though as you point out the status was on the boarding pass. Admittingly being Platinum I was going into the first lounge, but as I said everytime they wanted to see the actual card.

Yep. Ba are sticklers for seeing the card. Qf generally doesn't care. Just have your ff number written on your bp or be able to quote it.

I've lost one, replaced at no cost. Just admit you're a doof for losing it and it should be no issue.

To my experience it changed in the last few moths. I always ask at the entrance of the F-Galleries Lounge if they would need my card and since a few months they just say that it is coded into the BP and they do not need it! I was a bit surprised, but I had quite a few entries without my card.

In former times BA was as nasty as LH with seeing the card.

Wow how things have changed in the 12 months since leaving London.

As a Plat things improved: Priority boarding (for Emerald and Sapphire e.g. QF-Gold&Plat) on Euro Flights is the best improvement.

As QF-Club member you are no ejected out of the galleries lounge.

I must admit: I like LHR.

I've flown out of LHR T3 3 times in the past year and not needed to show my card once..

For domestic flights the card is not needed as the QP reference should be on the boarding pass or at the very least they can look it up for you.

OS they do not guarantee access without the card so this is where there may be an issue. It should not be an issue in Qantas lounges, for the same reason, but others may be more stringent and insist on seeing the card.

Qantas will express cards for a $30 fee. (thanks for the prompt scheps)

oh yea, memory jogged.. a friend bought the membership just before going os and therefore couldnt receive the card. Was going to be travelling for > 1 month therefore the temp card is not the solution. They express posted to her UK address!!! As they said you couldnt access any lounge overseas without the card...

You are lucky. Ft has a litany of posts on this topic. Basically ba doesn't trust the status on the bp and wants proof. Although maybe they have mellowed somewhat in recent times.

I just showed them the BP yesterday. They were really nice and polite as well.

I don't recall ever being asked for my card by BA.

They were quite strict in the past, but they changed it (maybe got a new system?). So the status recognition works (for me a 100% success rate!).
I had similar issues with LH - one of the Lounge Dragons told me that the status may be coded into the BP, but there may be technical issues. Somtimes it works, but you cannot rely on it.

Conclusion: You may have access at a BA lounge without a card, but there is no guarantee! Technically they can refuse the entry!
