If only there was status for the security queue

Unless you have a minder, I don't recommend this. Even with an AF staff member I almost got in to a physical altercation while boarding the plane. Mr Y+ wasn't happy being made to wait.

I doubt Mr Y+ being made to wait annoyed him but more that someone has pushed past by him in a small passageway during the boarding phase. To me, its irrelevant if one has a minder or not, but squeezing past in the cramped aerobridge/doorway legitimately or not, would annoy the heck out of me. And I have had a few flights where I have been escorted right to the plane but I would never consider jumping the boarding queue after the final BP scan. If there's a line in the aerobridge, so be it - as that is my choice for boarding the plane at my own leisure.

Let me clarify. It was at CDG at the final scan point before you go down the ramp to the aerobridge. It made no difference to Y+, he simply didn't like the fact that other people were being given preferential treatment I think.

Priority boarding is just another gimmick by airlines and in my case to stop me from having another glass of wine or maybe two at the lounge!!!

Say that to the person in the USA that had an extra glass of wine and had to gate-check their carry-on as there was no overhead space.

Priority boarding *definitely* has its place.
 
I could understand why someone might think they'd get just the bow through.

Come to think of it, maybe the arrows as well if they'd had the heads removed.

That would be the "points" which could be removed.
Nevertheless, the mind boggles at that level of idiocy.

This was a rank amateur, and unlikely to be a target archer.

Professional target archers know how to lodge their full kit properly.
 
Had a guy in the US start chatting to me at a bus stop, asked me where I was from then when I said Australia asked me "You guys got democracy there?"

And flush toilets, hope you let him know that as wll.
 
Americans also love it when I mention how much leave I get. On Twitter yesterday, I mentioned the sectors I'm doing on my trip to the US & Asia next year.

An American guy I know who is living & working in Germany for a US company on a US contract told me he only gets 1 week of annual leave a year. I know many more who only get 2 or 3 weeks.

The USA has moved towards a primarily seniority based leave system over the years.

Standard new hires tend to get around 2 weeks, with many senior (over 7-10 years) getting 5-6 weeks. Obviously it's intended to reward loyal staff, but these days i'm not so sure if it really works (that's what Long Service Leave does here, and even then it's not much of an enticement; for me it's a no brainer as i'm a year off pro-rata, so i'll hang around for a bit ;)).

Aye! It's difficult to explain, but good! Employee funded extra leave is another one I like using!

If you think long service leave is hard for them to get their head around, try explaining leave loading (not that it's anywhere near as common as it used to be, sadly).
