If you are offered anm e-standby upgrade for $0 AUD is it best to apply for it? Is there any chance that I'd be upgraded again at the desk?
If I ignore the eStandby wait for an upgrade at the desk am I risking no upgrade for the potential of getting a better one?

I'm Gold, booked a KING GUEST and been offered a KING EXEC for $0 and a KING JUNIOR SUITE for $99

What do? :)

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Adelaide Hilton

$99 for a suite is not bad. Anecdotally only a select few had been upgraded at Adelaide Hilton. I personally would request for the upgrade.

Hmnn I'm not sure I'm bothered to pay for the upgrade as I'm only there 1 night and the rate is only $159 so it's a big hike percentage wise. I'm guessing then that there's zero chance of an upgrade to the Junior Suite at the desk no matter which way I go, so I'm probably best off taking the $0AUD eStandby upgrade to EXEC.....?

The junior suites are nice but if you only stay 1 night and don't plan to spend much time in the room then why pay extra $99?
It's better to go for the exec room upgrade and enjoy the exec lounge IMHO.

Hilton Adelaide are very generous with upgrades from my experience as diamond member and I was upgraded to the junior suite quite often in the past.
I'm not sure how they treat gold members but I would take my chances.

So should I just ignore the eStandby and hope for an EXEC or Suite up or accept the $0 upgrade request and hope for a Suite upgrade (if they in fact do that?)

I gues my question is does the eStandby request prejudice the desk upgrade?

I dont think suite upgrade is a gold benefit.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

I frankly find the whole NOR1 thing very confusing - I ignore it for the most part, assuming its real purpose is to up-sell non status holders. As a gold I simply can't work out, given the wording used, what if any effect choosing NOR1 would have on any hoped for status upgraded room. There is a note on the NOR1 page referring to Gold and Diamond members and upgrades, but it doesn't go far enough to do more than re-enforce what we already know ... that gold/diamond status members can often expect upgrades .....

Personally, I very much doubt that a NOR1 upgrade would then be upgraded _again_ via status at checkin ... and even if it were, how would one know? Sometimes golds get suites, sometimes they don't ... sometimes you get told you've been upgraded to an executive room when in fact thats the one you booked ...

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Indeed it's not however I've had a pretty good hit rate recently :)

You are one lucky gold member then. I have had very good success rate with suites upgrade except for Hilton Sydney and Brisbane. I think it's property specific. That said, my Missus who is gold via certain promo had a very good upgrade at Hilton Sydney. She booked executive and got King suite. As for me, only 1 ever upgrade at Hilton Sydney to Relaxation suite.

All my stays have been at properties throughout Europe.

I always ignore the eStandby and hope for the best upgrade possible. I usually get some sort of upgrade due to my diamond status.
It's a gamble, if you select the eStandby $0 exec upgrade, this is what you will get if there is availability at check in.
If you choose to ignore it, you may get the junior suite but also may end up with no upgrade at all.

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Totally agree with boomy. That's how I did it as Gold - it does help to have Status, but also the property look at whether you're a regular guest.

Yea I just took the eStandby request. Bird in the hand and all that (although it's not guaranteed anyways I guess). Normally I ignore the paid upgrade requests and hope for the best.

Perhaps it's time I pulled the trigger on the Velocity Plat comp for Diamond...

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Hmmm... thewinchester was right. Your bathroom does look bigger than the bathroom in the King Deluxe Plus. :)

Bigger shower it seems, plus you have a bidet. Only thing I have on you is an extra sink (for the her or him in your life...)

Yes, but the question is: Do you plan to spend more time in the bathroom, or in the bed?

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Any Gold/Diamond members received status upgrades from a Relaxation Room at the Sydney Hilton before? If so was it to a King Junior Suite or to a Relaxation Suite?

Also - if a Gold/Diamond actually books a Relaxation Suite, is there anywhere really for them to be upgraded to? Unlikely to be put in the Master King Suite I imagine?

Appreciate any advice!

Anything is possible!

I received a King Suite upgrade from a king guest room booking (diamond)!

I was very impressed!

I always (5–6 times) get upgraded to Exec floor for free when staying at Hilton Adelaide as Gold.

Relaxation room to King Suite upgrade a couple of weeks ago.
I would not accept a King Junior Suite over either of the Relaxation room or suite and TBH I prefer the room over the suite.
Having said that the King Suite takes up the entire side of one floor and was referred to by my daughter and friends as the "party room" :)
