If you are offered & e-standby [nor1] upgrade for $0 is it best to apply for it?

Re: How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

Relaxation room to King Suite upgrade a couple of weeks ago.
I would not accept a King Junior Suite over either of the Relaxation room or suite and TBH I prefer the room over the suite.
Having said that the King Suite takes up the entire side of one floor and was referred to by my daughter and friends as the "party room" :)

When I'm in Sydney I sometimes go to friends to play poker and they always complain we can never play at my place because I stay at hotels.
When I got the King suite I called the guys and told them I finally got a proper "poker room" :)

Do you mean you prefer the relaxation room to the relaxation suite or king suite? Why is that? I think the relaxation suite looks like the best of these 3 categories with its 2 person Spa by the Window, not sure I would take an upgrade to the king suite...

Nor1 Links missing

Has anyone else noticed that the Nor1 links which used to show up in the Hilton booking emails are now missing?
It seems something has gone wrong ... I knew there was a link in one of the emails I'd received recently, but I couldn't find the button/image to click.

Here's what to do to find the actual link you need.
View the email source (varies by email client .. you'll need to figure this out yourself.
Search for nor1
This will find one URL which has an image source (<img src=https://www.nor1upgrades.com.....>. This image is the image which is clearly not loading in the Hilton emails.
Just before this is a link EchoWebService Web Service........... (note, there are two links in the email starting with this res2... - you need the one linked from the NOR1 image.

Copy that link and paste it into your browser. It will load NOR1.

Links are there for me in my most recent booking (13/12).

It's an interesting question you ask - never tested it to be honest!

As a Diamond I've never paid any attention to the Nor1 upgrades - always upgraded at Check in. If I didn't get one, I'd ask.

As Gold, with no guaranteed upgrades, if a NOR1 upgrade to exec room is less than $40, I consider it good value for two of us, to increase our chances of getting an upgrade.

The thing was I knew the links were there as I had clicked them before - just now when I wanted to click them the image you needed to click on was gone. Who knows. Finding the URL took me where I wanted to go, and I received a confirmation email from Hilton with my NOR1 request.

Re: Nor1 Links missing

I just noticed on one of my bookings (through the HH website) that an e-standby option was displaying at the bottom of the page. When I looked at it, I noticed a $0 upgrade (amongst others) was on offer and it had already been ticked for me and showed as my room in the booking (one level up from what I booked).

Has anyone yet decided if we should leave these $0 upgrades as selected, or unselect them and take pot luck? I have a good history of multi-room category upgrades and I'm wondering if I leave this $0 upgrade ticked, whether that'll be what I get and remove a possible better choice on the day.

I know this is almost the same question as the OP, but hopefully there's a bit more experience of it now. I've never noticed an automatically selected e-upgrade, but then again....I rarely look so maybe I have.

I've still received multi level upgrades when the $0 e-standby upgrade is ticked.

Even if it's ticked you have to submit it before it's been activated AFAIK.
I've never bothered with it to be honest and if I do it is only when the suite upgrade prices look cheap and/or it's a property I don't rate my chances with.

As diamond you will most likely get at least one level upgrade so there is really no point using the e-standby option unless you would like a better chance to guarantee a higher level upgrade.

Actually I just remembered that one time I did the paid upgrade option I was advised at check-in that I shouldn't have done it as I would most likely have been given the upgrade complimentary.
Can't quite remember the hotel but I think it might have been one of my stays at The Trafalgar a couple of years back.

A poor comment by the hotel staff IMO.
Like being told in the QF lounge that you shouldn't have requested this points upgrade as you could get a complementary one today.

Well I jumped in before reading these posts and un-ticked the selected option. In doing so, all the options have gone west and there was one I was slightly interested in, a three bedroom penthouse suite for circa US$170 extra per night (Hilton Colombo Residences).

I've checked my other bookings and there was only one other showing an upgrade but it was different to the e-upgrades. It had just one option (a one category upgrade) but was a point only upgrade offer for circa 17000 points. This is at Hilton Al Ain where the booking is a points and pay for 16000 + AUD80 (incl) so I don't really think a one category upgrade is worth 17000 points (coincidentally that proposed upgraded room was displaying as "premium" room points special at about 35000 points $0).
