IHG Confirmable Suite Upgrades

Unfortunately due to cancelling a booking it looks like I'll have a suite upgrade going to waste at end Feb. I'm pretty sure these can't be extended or gifted, I haven't missed anything have I?

I was unable to use one of mine, so called up and asked nicely, they gave me a new one valid for 12 months. Perhaps being a Diamond helped.

Have dropped to platinum so don't have that nice phone line anymore, but will try!

Was able to get the suite upgrade extended by 3 months from today as a one time courtesy. I was told longer could not be done.
If you ask for the same I suggest waiting until the absolute last day to request this, as it seems to make it 3 months from day of extension, not current expiry date + 3 months.

So another advantage of diamond. Got a 6 month extension in December and wasn’t told it was a one time only thing.

Can you use a CSU if you redeem it before the expiry date, for a stay that will take place a week after the certificate will expire?

Yes as long as it is redeemed within the 14 days before the stay. But beware some ICs play games and upgrade you at the 14 day mark and doing that prevents you from using your suite upgrade certificate. Of course that is not an upgrade to a suite.
