IHG Hotels that recognise status

There seems to be some confusion between Intercontinental Hotel (IC branded hotels only) and Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG - includes HI, CP, Voco, Indigo etc.). If the "G" or the term "Group", then it means all hotel brands in the group. If just the term IC or Intercontinental Hotel then it only applies to the one brand (Intercontinental Hotel) within the group.

Ambassador is an IC status and only applies to Intercontinental Hotels, and does not apply across the group.

Additionally, Ambassador members receive IHG One Rewards Platinum Status and the benefits associated with IHG One Rewards Platinum Status then apply across all IHG brand hotels.

Just intercontinental and Kimpton.
Not any longer. IC Ambassador ONLY provides benefits at Intercontinental Hotels and Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. IC Ambassador, IC Royal Ambassador and Kimpton Inner Circle members receive some benefits at Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas. The specific benefits at Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas are extended to IC Ambassador, IC Royal Ambassador and Kimpton Inner Circle members, and are separate to any IHG One Rewards status.

IC Ambassador does not receive any Ambassador benefits at Kimpton beyond what is received for being a IHG One Rewards Platinum status member.

No, nil Ambassador recognition or benefits
That’s not entirely true. Intercontinental Ambassador does get you IHG Platinum and that status does give you some benefits at IHG Group hotels like Crowne Plaza and yes even the lowly Holiday Inm Express. Specifically you get a welcome gift of a free drink or 500 bonus points (the latter useful if you book award stays with your IHG points) and late checkout

I also noted that at the IC if you don't get a room upgrade they give you 10,000 points, which I received on one occassion. Another time I got the room upgrade, which wasn't particularly special. I would have preferred the points!

But these benefits relate to the awarded IHG Platinum status, and are nothing to do with the IC AMB membership, directly. Best not to confuse the two, as it creates situations where people believe AMB benefits do, or may apply to brands outside of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.
