IHG Platinum status fast track

I didn’t receive the offer (already Plat) but there was an article on LL the other day. Certainly great for anyone who needs a status boost.

I’m wondering if this works for current Plats (and Golds) to retain or increase status? There’s nothing in the Ts&Cs precluding it (that I could tell). I have a vague recollection of retaining status on a similar offer in the past but I could be mistaken.
I have a four night stay starting tomorrow (probably should have stretched that to 5 nights!). So I fired off the promo and it’s appearing in ”My Offers”. I’m an existing Plat, so not expecting anything next week but will see what happens when I get a 5th night done.

Looks like you need a promo code to enrol in this?

No, but the website and app seem to throw that up randomly. I registered no probs as per previous post but when I tried to get SYD+1 registered last week, we got the “promo code” problem.

Try again, can’t remember if you need to login in first or not, but if you get the registration page that just asks for your email/member number, you’ll be fine.

This promo is back for 2022. This time, only a Platinum fast-track is available but the target is still 5 nights within 90 days.

I had forgotten that I registered for the previous promo to see if it would work to maintain my Plat status. I only ended staying 4 (of 5) nights due to cancelled travel but my (and everyone else’s) status was extended anyway.

I may try again this year to see what happens.

If you're able to register again and stay the 5 nights, this would seem like an easy way to maintain Platinum for another year (until end of 2023).

Absolutely! If you plan to stay anyway, it’s a no brainer. As per my earlier posts, I was able to register last year as an existing Plat but didn’t complete all 5 nights.

A pity they dropped the 2 nights for Gold. That’s a useful leg up and helps prevent points expiry.

Almost on cue, I received an invite to sign up to Ambassador (which comes with IHG Plat) and get 20k bonus points after 2 nights (so net 20k points to join or USD$200). Not a lot of use to me…

I'm currently a Platinum member. I tried registering for the new Plat fast track promotion but it won't let me.

So, let me get this straight - if I had no status with IHG, I could qualify for Platinum until the end of 2023 by staying 5 nights. But since I'm already Platinum, I'll have to do 30 nights this year to renew? 🧐

Only available to Silver and Gold if I remember correctly

What did the system say when trying to register? “Not eligible” (buggar off) sort of message?

I was able to register last year as Plat but didn’t complete the stays….

Not sure that's an unusual feature of a fast track to a status.

I do understand it from IHG's point of view. It just seems a bit unfair that a loyal existing IHG member has to stay 6x more nights than any random bloke off the street to get Platinum for next year.

In any case, there is nothing in the T&Cs that says current Platinum members are not eligible.

The offer appears under "Offers" when I'm logged into my account. But when I try to activate the offer it says:

Sorry, this offer is no longer available!

Yeah, I get the same message. Hmm, I was going to fire it off closer to a future booking….

Colour me surprised. That seems to have worked!

I had to manually enter the promo code (25602) when using that link, but I got a message "You have successfully completed registration for Fast Track to Platinum" this time. I also just got a confirmation email saying that I've registered.

Excellent. Handy to know!

How long before you expect to get the stays done?

In a way Accor might be doing same if one is not an AccorPlus. But good to see a solution in this case as per below:

Current offer has me reaching gold off 7.000 points or 7 nights, but looks like new Silver is the old Gold, except points won't get you there. New Gold is 40,000 points or 40 nights (the old platinum) and diamond is a lot harder to get off points than the old Spire. No qualification based on number of stays was always a bit of a minus, I'm a one night regular at hotels.

All in all, loks like it's been enhanced.

Cheers skip
