I'm Done With JEST-STAR !!

I'll try to brief ...
'Flights close 40 mins ...'
I got to the kiosk at 45 mins, and it locked me out. No checked luggage.
Cost additional $75. to get next flight.
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience. This I see as a huge issue. Yes you should have got there earlier but an airline (even LCC) should have some flexibility and be able to override the system when they create the issue?

You could have been locked out at T-60 minutes and still missed the flight and forced to purchase last minute flight.

I purchased the Heritage Bank issued prepaid Mastercards and have had issues with them. Woolworths does not accept for online orders which was a surprise for me.

It’s like shopping in Aldi and complaining about the range. Go somewhere else, Aldi isn’t for you.

Others however who know the pros and cons and like the price point are happy to shop there.

Same deal with Jetstar. If you know what to expect they’re really quite OK as far as LCCs go, especially if you have lounge access.

@Hvr why would CC be ok as an offline transaction but not a DC?
The credit card transaction will still usually go through after the fact, even if it's over the credit limit - the cardholder might be charged extra fees but the merchant still gets their money. This can't happen with prepaid cards.

I'm curious how this is a Jetstar specific issue, yes the system locked you out but I've also had QF and VA flights over the years where online/mobile check in hasn't worked and I've made the point to arrive at the airport a tad earlier to sort issues. I think that's on you for cutting it so fine and I'd hardly call it a Jetstar specific issue.
That's a bit unfair, I think. If the Deathstar policy is T-40 and he arrived T-45, then it should not lock him out. But if it does do so, inconsistent with their own policy and therefore its their system error, then at the very least he should not be forced to pay extra for the later flight.

arrived T-45
The problem with that is "arrive" at kiosk at T-45. The checkin needs to have been done at T-40. The question really is when exactly was checkin refused?

But assuming that check in could have been done by T-40 then JQ is in the wrong. Proving that of course if near impossible unless there were screenshots showing time and unable to checkin

Of course I don't understand why wait until the kiosk to checkin? Could have checked in 2 days prior

This was explained by OP in post #3 :

My flight said 'ineligible'.

Turned out, it was because I started a booking for food/drinks post ticket purchase ... then decided not to proceed.
I assumed, it would just 'drop off' after 48 hours or so .... but it stayed for two months, and staff say, this was Why I couldn't check in online !!

I'm a bit confused why OP thinks that Jetstar should just trust that his card has plenty of money on it.

Besides this, Qantas Money cards are a ripoff and anyone who had looked into the fees would never use them, that may be another reason that Jetstar staff are unfamiliar, as JQ passengers are generally value-conscious and wouldn't use such things.

What fees?

They recently dropped the 0.5% 'instant' transfer fee.
Now, there are no "fees" that I am aware of ....

I have no problem using the QANTAS Money card for Woolworths instore shopping ( at their self-serve kiosk ).
But my card was rejected for Woolies 'Everyday Pay' system.
The 3DS 2.0 prevents certain types of transactions.
As far as I'm concerned, if a transaction system needs such an in-depth security clearance, then there's something unusual about the 'intention', given it's not a mandatory protocol. Perhaps, it gives the ability to reverse transactions, or allows for card billing without a specific request ?

Use a different card? We all have the occasional card fail. I always use a debit Visa or MC on Jetstar with no problems. Arriving at kiosk with 5 minutes to spare is chancing it.
