I'm in the QF Lounge thread

OOL QP update: Was just advised that the lounge no longer closes for an hour around lunchtime meaning that I won't be temporarily booted from the lounge. And speaking of lunchtime... 🍕 has just been served! Hawaiian and Vegetarian on today's menu.
I'm excited for the day the SYD Dom J has the pizza oven (if that ever happens).

Underwent a weird thing at domestic SYD J lounge just now. I'm sitting at the work benches at the back and on a work call with my teams overseas. I'm talking a mix of English and a couple of other regional Indian languages. There are many people like me on these benches on work meetings etc.

A lady comes and sit right opposite to me, noticing that I'm on a call, she keeps huffin & puffin, making oooh's and aaah's etc, clearly showing her disapproval of my being on the phone. Went on for 5 or so minutes and then she starts to shush me ... first just making shushing sounds at me and then gestures my moving her finger to her mouth and loudly shushes me .. I ignore and keep talking on the phone call. I am in a work meeting and I'm not going to stop because someone shushes me. I'm not in a library and I'm not the only one on the phone. Note that none of us in the work bench had any issue with the other person being on a phone call.

She then kept saying "of course you are going to be on the phone, shush" "you got to be kidding me, f88k, shush"

She keeps shushing me for another minute or so. Then gets up and starts looking for another seat where she can sit without hearing me talking on the phone. Doesn't find a suitable empty seat, comes back to her old seat and keeps shushing me again. I'm still on the call, I'm looking at her, but ignoring her because my work call is far more important than what she was doing.

She gets up again, finds a desk in the computer desk area and then walks away.

I finish my work call, go to the reception desk to talk to someone to complain about this weird behaviour. Luckily the supervisor walks into the reception area and I explain what has happened. He said that I was welcome to continue doing what I was doing. In terms of the lady, he said he can't do much because she has stopped doing what annoying thing she was doing and has moved to a different seat.

Ces't la vie!

Note: Happy for this post to be moved to right spot. I posted this here because this happened in the QF lounge.

To be fair, Sydney DOM J does have the look and feel of a decrepit bus station filled with bizarre old cat women.

...Maybe she was on staff and just playing the part to bring the magic to life.

I travelled with a colleague recently on a route from BNE to SYD (with a layover) then onwards on a regional flight. They actually said they think the SYD J lounge is nicer than the BNE J, each to their own I guess.

I can see why you said "colleague" instead of friend. I like Bris DOM J apart from the damage caused by St Kilda fans...

PER Dom J until the redeye to BNE boards. Very pleased to say that the pizza is still going, I had heard some nasty reports that it had been enhanced to stop at 1900.

SYD Int’l J for 30m. Can guest 1. QF3 is delayed but it’s so full they’ve even opened up a secret fire exit with tables below the F lounge escalators!

Barista is working nonstop, so at least the whole lounge smells of fresh coffee

BNE Dom J for next 2 hours, though colleagues have called dibs on guest privileges.
Interesting beef, bacon and dark ale pie being served, consisting of a bowl with soup-like contents topped with pastry. Actually quite tasty and not bad for those of us trying to keep low-carb resolutions!
Better than average margaritas at the bar today also, well done!
