Impressive happy hour today - it must be Christmas!

I think the LA PE offer is a terrific fare and very generous of VA particularly with the travel dates. Indeed I hope it is repeated next year when I intend on the travelling the route. It will be interesting to see how prices and redemption rates change with the new J cabin and altered W cabin.

I was moreso expressing my disappointment at the bias toward travel dates 6 months in advance for domestic fares particularly where, as JohnK pointed out, the discounts are barely enough to compensate you for parting with your money so soon and are not different from regular happy hour sales.

Still very pleased with the PE fare to LAX from that happy hour sale. My friend, who's travelling with me, was very impressed by the price! To add some icing to the cake, I rang the GCC today to check if there was inventory for an upgrade to J for the LAX to SYD sector and there was! Burned most of my points to get the upgrade for the 2 of us. So much better than the upgrade lottery that QF subject us to. Checked the price for the upgrade bid for SYD to LAX and they want $1000 as a minimum bid. It's a bit much but, given that my PE fare was so cheap, I may be able to convince my friend that it's worth putting in a bid. ;)
