We're happy to announce that as of today, you can enter your Qantas Frequent Flyer # on the Preferences tab of the My Account page and ExpertFlyer will send that to QF when you request a seat map. As such, we will now show all the seats that are available to you because of your elite status that would otherwise show as blocked. This also applies to Seat Alert checks as well.

We also have award availability searching for all 4 cabins.

Enjoy!

Hmmm ... some seats that were shown as Q-blocked, now show as available; however this skews results when I make queries for other than me.

It is good that it also shows relevance for cabins other than the one booked.

It's somwhat of a saga to take my QFF number in and out for different queries. (My account, verify password, preferences, add/remove QFF number, save)

I guess I'll simply leave my number out as a default - put it in when when I wish to use it.

Why would that be the default? Wouldn't you default to seeing your own preferences?

I've done some checks and the main difference between including my WP number and not is that most of the
blocked-seat.gif
simply change to
free-seat.gif
- those that don't are generally exit rows/bassinet positions.

Interesting to see the difference in seating availability between WP/SG/NB.

I played with it over my lunch break and here is what came out for these specific examples; comparing SG and NB;

JFK-SYD QF108 11/08/10

With NB, the following is blocked:-

Rows 11, 12, Seat 13K, 16, 23, 24, 25, 29, and seats 30A/K

With SG, it is now blocked as:-

Rows 11, 12, 16, 23, 24, seats 29A/B/J/K and seats 30A/K

SG gains NB; seat 13K, Row 25, seat 29 D/E/F

SYD-SIN QF31 23/09/10

With NB, X marks the spot for:-

Rows 11, 12 (except 12A), 13, 16, Seats 17E/F, 18 (except 18J) and 24

With SG, X marks on:-

Rows 11, 12 (except 12K , yes K), 13, 16 and 24

SG gains over NB; seat 17A/B/J/K, and row 18

If someone wants to test the above flights using their WP status?

That's me and +1 in occupired seat 19A/B

It would appear, simply, when flying J on the 388, WP's have access to all seats (Row 11 and onwards). SG have acess from Row 17, NB from Row 19 onwards. (If the above logic remains the same, PS would have access from Row 18). Exit rows are Q-blocked for all status.

As I was told by the Economy Cabin manager a few weeks ago during the WP meet'n greet, rows 11-13 are nicknamed "Emerald City" :p

For QF 11 16/6/10 as SG

F ,seats 1A,1K,5K blocked

J, Rows 11,12,13,16 blocked plus exit row 24

Y+ Row 34 blocked, Plus exit row 38

Y Rows 50,51,52, exit row 66 & 79, Row 81 seats D,E,F,G

Compared to a NB

F as for SG

J, Rows 11-19 blocked, plus exit row 24

Y+ as for SG

Y Rows 50-54 Blocked,exit row 66 & 79, Row 81 seats D,E,F,G,
Rows 84-88 (except 84K and 86K)

BTW can someone guide me on how to copy/paste/add those seat map diagrams onto the thread?

So that would mean getting there would involve following the Yellow Brick Road? Perhaps they need gold carpet on the airbridges ;)

Unless PS's like mrsdoc and I get 11JK (bassinet seating - no babies in business so our upgrade came thru.....)

i would have though 16 would be popular with OWEs?? (isnt 16 the exit row?)
