One of the real pleasures of travelling! Finding a hole in the wall restaurant for lunch, away from the scene and crowds.

Delicious meal - definitely eat here when in the area.

I had lemonade from that van at that lookout! (plus a few Portuguese Tarts )

I was on foot though, and it was blazing hot , so I dallied.

Did you go to the aquarium?

The lemonade was very refreshing, can only imagine in the heat of summer. We’ve been discussing how these places would be very a different experience with the summer heat and crowds.

No, on the aquarium - we’ve had our fill of those when the kids were younger.

We stayed at Hotel Maria Christina. It’s a SPG luxury collection property ..... we loved it! Would happily recommend, lovely rooms, great location, and very service friendly staff.

Literally had my mouth water when I saw that picture of the octopus dish...yummo! Hope you had enough cash for the meal

The octopus was excellent. Good pick up on the cash sign - all sorted over here, but at home I’d be stuffed.

Another thing we liked the look of at this restaurant - new idea for olive bowls, repurposed sardine tins!

We liked the look so much we went and purchased some classy looking tins to bring home

After lunch will made our way back down to the old city - excellent walk!

Big shout out to @Rugby for recommending this restaurant - how good is the AFF community!

Bairro do Avillez ..... the food was great, but be prepared for the service to be lightening fast!

We only managed to get through the large G & T when the main came. We still need our tintos!





If you eat here try the exploding olive - awesome!

We hit the concierge up for some suggestions for a day trip ..... car and driver secured - we hit the road.

First up Sintra - from what I could tell it was the summer resort for royalty .... now days just daytrippers and the wealthy.

Loving this and those tiles are just amazing. I've been trying to get some Spanish/Portugese tiles to put outside on my steps but no luck with anything that's not slippery

The westernmost point of mainland Europe - Cabo da Roca.

Really lucky as we hit a sun filled day with no wind!

Restaurant - O Faroleiro. This was a sensational place.... highly recommended!
