Ok, my sister lived in LA for five years and raved about this burger chain. Not rave to the point of declaring it a culinary must-do, but raved enough to make me more than intrigued and, to be honest, completely obsessed.
The last two times I have been to the US I have missed out on trying it.
It's now doing my head in. Something so simple and stupid is becoming an obsession.
My next trip will be my last for a while. I am going to Portland, Oregon but it has no In and Out.
I don't have enough time between connections to rush to the one near LAX.
That leaves Salt Lake City as my only chance. Staying at Crystal Inn Downtown and the nearest franchise is a $30 cab ride away in West Valley City or an hour travel on the light rail (yes, I have researched it THAT much).
So do I do it or not? Please, either put my mind at rest by telling me it's not worth it, or put my mind at rest by saying 'go for it'.

Disclaimer: I do realise it's only a coughpy burger chain, but once I get it in my mind, I can't let it go.

Since you have actually spent time researching it, then if you don't go you will regret it. It will continue to be one of those niggling things that you've always wanted to try, but didn't when you had the chance.

As one of the other members has in their signature (paraphrasing) - In the end, you will regret the things you didn't do more so than the things you did.

Ultimately a $30 can ride is nothing compared to what you've (or who ever is picking up the tab) has paid to get you to the US in the first place.

Do it - then head to New York and go to Good Burger, home of the Good Burger - which is my favourite burger place in the world.

You actually could have had it in Australia.
They had a 1-day pop up store in Kings Cross, Sydney a while back.

You posted here - you're going.

have done a few US burger tours, and can't quite make out what all the hype is about In n Out.
Was good, but nothing special to write home about as far as I'm concerned
But you do need to see for yourself!

Clearly you are going...now do you know about their "secret menu" too?

Yes, I am going. I am delusional if I think I can talk myself out of it.
$80 on a burger. I am clearly mad.
Secret menu?????????????????????????????

A friend of mine said the same thing about them. Best burgers ever.

Ill be giving them a shot next week

When are you going? Would you like a BR? (thats a Burger Report, as opposed to a TR)

If you want it, do it. Otherwise you'll only think what if....

On the subject of burgers, can't go past a Wendys Baconator for deliciousness

You are all awesome.
I am going and I will love every single freaking second of it.

mmm...this thread is making my hungry.

Better check out Heart Attack Grill too then ;)

I will do it. I promise. I wonder if the SLC light rail has priority boarding?

The burgers were fine but I don't understand the hype. If you're that close to the store, what's an extra few bucks if it's something you want to do?
