In and Out Burger

Currently living in LA, I can attest I think the one nearest LAX is the best, I think they are the busiest hence the most practiced staff

I was in Vegas on the weekend and did heart attack grill, I was actually too hungover to finish my burger but it was good!

I like the original umami burger which is just around the corner from me

Favorite in NY is still Shake Shack

For in n out I usually order a double double animal style with a neopolitan shake (vanilla, choc & strawberry), I don't really rate their fries even when cooked extra crispy, fries animal style are prob best...

Enjoy!

The In-N-Out burgers are good.... get the plastic bag of chillies too! And I concur that Umami are great too... a branch is about to open at The Grove!

But for all you Food Fiends you just must head to down town LA... Umamicatessen on Broadway where they have the ultimate DONUT... Foie gras mousse, forest berry jam, peanut powder! OMG... it is amazing. And have a look at all the other menu items too... it is one helluva joint that I spent an entire Firday afternoon in... eating and drinking What an experience!

God Bless America... ;)

Do it and DO IT

It's always the first thing I do after getting out of LAX airport

ALWAYS

Same here. Unless arriving at 6:30am where I go to Caffe Luxxe in Santa Monica for a decent coffee. THEN I go to in'n'out!

Animal style fries are a must. I'm a fan of the double double though, just with grilled onion not full animal style.

I like the black and white shake - Neapolitan is a bit much.

But I would pay $30 to go. Definitely.

I must admit, I thought twice before posting this thread. But I think we, as frequent flyers, have different whims to others and I knew in my gut that people here would 'understand'.
Thanks again everyone. Double double animal style, fries animal style and a black & white shake here I come.

Just do it! At least then you can say you've tried it...and the burgers aren't too bad.

Ill second Shake Shack too...their 'concrete' shakes need to be eaten with a spoon!

Thanks for posting this. Robdjnr & myself have sorted out our menu now too and google mapped the closest to our hotel.

Wait till you get back to Oz and have a Grill'd instead :)

After having a quick look on the net, Grilled looks better.

The In 'n' Out burger looks like a formula for a heart attack 101. Doesn't look special and looks bland too. However, since l haven't tried it, l really should not pass judgement on it.

Grill'd Mustard & Pickled for me thanks with Herb Mayo to boot please

I like Grill'd, and whilst it is probably healthier, In'n'Out is definitely tastier.

I liked the burgers I have had at Five Guys Burgers - in the AA terminal at Dulles. Unfortunately I've got nothing to benchmark them against.

Their burgers are good - yes and grilld here are a little less okay - but for me the best I burgers I have had anywhere in the world - its a tie between ...

1. BLT in caesars palace in Vegas

And

1. Park Hyatt Tokyo.

Although both are, way more expensive than in and out.

Since you're going to be in Portland, perhaps a trip to the Stepping Stone Cafe for some mancakes is in order.

I would not bother going somewhere especially when you know you will be disappointed.

By the way I do know "most" burgers taste great but I have not had one yet that I feel is worth going out of the way. And no I do not think the next one is either....

I've never tried In and Out burger (I don't eat too many of 'em) but at the risk of staying OT, how would people who know compare it with 'The Counter' burgers, which I did try in Marina Del Rey a couple of years ago (and found it pretty good TBH).

I did not try eating this one:

I like to get the attached from counter, only available on a Tuesday from century city but great with the beer paddle matching the different sliders
