In London before the Olympics?

Sun is shining in London now but not for long with thunderstorms predicted. They are telling people not to go to the F1 in Ulverstone because of severe weather alerts due to flooding.

Raining for me right now......

We will bring the sunshine if it is on back order at the moment.

No sunshine today. Lucky Wimbledon is under cover. The cabbie I spoke to yesterday said the main flyer to and from the airport has been closed with structural issues. They hope to get it fixed in five days. Except the Olympic athlete village opens tomorrow as the athletes pour in. Just like the rain! :). It is now taking over 2 hours in non peak time to get to and from the airport according to him. We're off to Paris today and hopefully leave the rain behind.

We were at Hampton Court Palace flower show all day yesterday. Except for some light rains from Wimbledon to Hampton Court on the train, the sky was mostly overcast but thankfully the rains stayed away until when we got home around 8:30pm. Hubby said he read somewhere the long range forecast around the Olympics there would not be much rain, but it would not be fine either.

Many athletes won't arrive for another 2 weeks.. Most will be at training camps til the week of the opening ceremony.. It'll be officials and admin staff

I am dreading getting through LHR upon arrival...and I am pretty sure I'm arriving at peak time (19th)

Is LHR going to be crazy heading out this weekend?

Have not been through LHR before and have 0700 flight to FCO on Sunday.

Do I need to worry? The news doesn't seem to be to positive here!

Are you starting your journey at LHR? Or transferring between terminals? Do you have premium status with the airline you are using?

If setting out from LHR, you should be okay, although give yourself plenty of time for all the pre-flight processes obviously. The transfer rigmarole is where the problems occur more often - but you can be lucky and have everything go smoothly. Just can't bank on it, so you must build in a generous transfer time.

Well i am here and have been madly working away at the MPC setting up.. commute from Russell Square is about 45 mins which invloves tube to Kings Cross. Javelin to Stratford then media bus in... I will start my TR very soon!

Don't suppose you'll be around Kings Cross this evening? I'm off on business again and will be passing via St Pancras International........

I'm catching the 8.30pm train out of STP, so if you maybe wanted to meet up for dinner we could do something beforehand? I'm flexible on times, just need enough notice to get there! Could meet around 7? I've got the same mobile number if you want to give me a buzz (as you've got a new one!).

First day without rain today.

No real evidence of the forthcoming Olympics, although there are mentions of road closures coming up.

It'll pick up from tomorrow as the teams arrive. It's rather quiet around the MPC at the moment too. But that will change on Tuesday.

Thank goodness I'm out of town now

Went in to see a show on The Strand yesterday, and the increased number of tourists around there was enough to make me be thankful that a) I have a bit of travel of the next few weeks b) when I am working, I can work from home!

Two more in the city tomorrow night!
There is a bit of a crowd coming from Perth for the water polo. Our friends have a son and a daughter playing.
We heard there are unsold tickets heading back to London so maybe we won't need to deal with scalpers.
