Thinking of heading to India for a four days or so .... it would be my first time, any suggestions? Liking heading that way mid June this year.

I am really open to anything, though exploring a few hours each day is a must ... then chilling by poolside at a nice resort would top off the day.

June is end of summer/monsoon season in many parts of India.
I've always been a big fan of Pondicherry, south of Chennai.

That time a year is high 30's without the monsoons!

great, i'll take a look at Pondicherry.

just trying to make the most of expedia.br deals and making a quick side trip out of SIN.

Kochi backwaters houseboat cruise.

What airline are you flying to India and to what port?

Generally quite flexible with anything ex-SIN or even ex-KUL, variety of LCC's or SQ KF points I could redeem with.

I'd head to the Taj Mahal just to tick the box, but thought I'd do a bit more digging and research to see if there is anything else interesting to see/do instead.

Yeah. At least a tourist cruise through the lakes and canals and rivers. I felt like I was in a movie, one with tranquil backdrops and gentle music. It was gorgeous, and I will certainly return to take a houseboat.

The Taj Mahal is a couple of hours (easily) outside Delhi so if you really wanted to do that, it would be either one very hardcore day or would take a couple of days (staying overnight etc).

If you are looking at something not too strenuous and in your face, Kochi is definitely the better option. Some lovely resorts and enough to do to keep you entertained for four days.

Loved Pondicherry. Great food (sort of French Influence) and curious Ashrams. We travelled to Chennai then hired a driver to take us South to Pondicherry. Then back to Chennai, flight to Trivandrum then on to the Maldives.

Mr Pushka and No 2 son backpacked through Nepal and then into India visiting Rajasthan province which they loved. ESP the Camel Trek. But it takes a long time to travel anywhere. They hated Delhi as it was a big dump and quite enjoyed Mumbai. Loved Jaipur and Jodhpur. Lots of toilet stories, or should I say, non toilet stories. Public buses were a nightmare. Trains completely booked out. They only ate vegetarian and didn't get sick which is a miracle for them as both are prone to it.

All flights for the two trips above were through Singapore.

Hello!

India is a pretty amazing place to visit. I spent 6 weeks there just over two years ago now. If you're wanting to visit Agra I believe it's about 3 hours by train from Delhi if you started your trip there. I didn't 'explore' much in Delhi but I did arrange a driver for the day to take me around some of the sights which included the Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, India Gate or the Gate of India (I can't remember which - I believe the other is the name of the arch on the water front in Mumbai), the president's area and a few other places.

You can book train tickets easily on Cleartrip which I where I booked my tickets from with the help of seat61.com. From what I understand the Cleartrip rules changed and you now have to send a copy of your passport to them before you book but I have heard of someone doing so successfully. Booking ahead will save you massive amounts if time as you can bring your Cleartrip booking onto the train.

While I was in Agra I went to the red fort and baby taj as well as a few other places including the gardens opposite the river to her a picture of myself holding the Taj :p

I also spent some time in a number of places including Goa where I stayed on Palolem beach, though I don't think the weather in June will be good for travel there with the monsoons!

We were planning to visit the Taj for our 30th wedding anniversary in June. Until we realised it would be under a metre of water.
