Individual seat selection isn't available for this flight - QF J International

ExpertFlyer definitely has my QF NB membership number. I didn't realise that T-80 was a little flexible - I'll keep checking back.

The good news is by end of July I'll be WP so hopefully avoid this problem for the next couple of years.
Sorry I know it’s been ages since you flew, but were you able to book your seats online? I’m at less than 80 hours to go myself and can’t book seats nor seat preferences.

Using the Emirates booking ref?
I only have one booking ref that Qantas provided. I was able to log in and see my booking on the Emirates portal with this ref. However, it just says seat selection not available. Such a nightmare! I fly internationally twice a year and I’ve always been able to book seats at the time of booking. My first time flying Qantas and this is the experience- yikes!

I suspect mine was different so don't get overly anxious by this but I ended up being bumped off my flight. There was a broken seat in business class as as a Bronze on an award ticket they tried to downgrade me at the airport. I refused and was put on a different flight in J the next morning.

You're not flying Qantas. This is an Emirates thing.

Thank you! I’m just trying to fly economy! Not even business.

I’ve flown Emirates multiple times (booked directly) and never had this issue.

Sadly, my manager at work is also on an Emirates flight booked via Qantas to Europe in September. She too is unable to book seats or seat preferences.

Ring emirates if the manager your booking on the EK site will not allocate seats. Nothing to do with Qantas.

Booked reward seats on EK via QF last night and no issue finding EK PNR at the seat selection section in QF MMB and using on EK website and app to pick seats

Not sure if different for revenue

Edit: I'm WP now.

So a year on from my OP I have the same flight booked. This time at about T-72 I was able to select seat 1A. I was quite happy with that but checking Expertflyer.com my seat is showing as blocked out.

Has anyone seen this before? My QF booking still shows 1A but I'm paranoid someone will usurp me and I'll end up in a less desirable seat. #firstworldproblems

Booked 1A and K last year (2 pax) at T-80. Award seats. Low status. They held, no issues.

Thanks I forgot to mention I'm WP now. I just find it curious that the seat is blocked out in EF rather than showing as occupied.
I would not be comfortable with that. If it is blocked then it is not allocated. Can you advise the flight no, date and route. Someone can check. PM if you feel more comfortable.

BTW, 10K is a pretty good seat on a QF 789.

Thanks Serfty it's QF93 on 31/5. My app still says I have 1A and I've been checking every few hours.

I did have 10K before I moved to 1A. Out of curiosity what would you check other than ExpertFlyer?

I see what you see ... except 10A is now showing allocated.

Maybe the seating is under "airport control". (Generally E/F has been reflective of the seat map.)

Update. (Apparently) 1A is out of service along with 4 other seats in the cabin. I got some spiel about parts. If true it can't be good for revenue. Now I'm in 2F 😢

Correct, but it can be good for staff tavellers.

There are many J class seats that are taken out of sale in the past year and still currently not able to be sold.
