Indonesian Visa Discussion (Including Bali)

I'm trying to fill out the Evoa form on website. Passport details auto populated from uploaded photo, except date of issue changed to today. All good. Passport expiry in 2031 (which got autofilled correctly) so what do I upload for the field confirming Passport has at least 6mths - it has to be pdf - passport again? Also, what to upload for proof of return ticket - e-ticket? Help! Update: sorted. What a process....

@Tropic I had some fields missing and some auto-populate wrong. When you move through the application you have opportunity to override what has auto-populated.

Thanks JohnK. Yep, I noted and corrected the incorrect autopopulated fields. What stumped me was what to put to confirm I had > 6 mths on passport when that was already clear from uploaded passport and expiry auto pop field... anyway, just uploaded image of passport photo page (but saved as pdf) again and uploaded my e-ticket for the proof of outbound booking field. That worked but then had to go back into app and find the payment button. Was doing this on my mob so prob clearer using PC. Cheers Tropic

@Tropic, exactly what I was going through with the application. I was doing it on laptop and had to go back in and find the payment.

My goodness DPS immigration a mess last night. Took us close to an hour. People pushing in everywhere making their own queues. Some got away with it but others made noise and immigration officers getting involved.

What appeared to be a South American lady was going around asking everyone if this was a special lane because she was pointing some special paper to everyone that she was special. She pushed in to the front somewhere but then sat against the wall behind immigration for 30+ minutes because her not so special friends were still in queue. She was still there when we finished.

My first thoughts are never again.

So, what's the verdict? Are you better off going with the e-visa or the EVOA? I have an ABTC but a) its not valid for Tourist travel in Bali, and b) I'll be travelling with Mrs G...

And any idea how this new Tourist $grab will work? Its to be done online after arrival on an honesty basis? Who polices it?

Putting your other half aside, is anyone going to know you're not actually going to be conducting business on your visit? Would anyone care?

And aren't there mooted changes coming around 15 February whereby Australian passport holders may not need a visa at all?

I just bought this IDR154,500 tourist levy. You can only put through 1 person per transaction and I got an email with a downloadable voucher. Families will have a lot of fun having to present a tourist levy form and an eVisa form for each person at the immigration counter.

The language used throughout the process made it sound like it's not mandatory - "We truly appreciate your sincere participation and care for Bali."

I'm not seeing any new updates online regarding the USD35 visa fee being removed. My family is only going for a short visit and having to pay $70 each just to enter is certainly turning me off future visits.

And now there's the extra tourist tax to be paid. $15 pp. milking it now.

14 February 2024
Latest update:The Bali Provincial Government has introduced a new tourist levy of IDR 150,000 per person to foreign tourists entering Bali. The tourist levy is separate from the e-Visa on Arrival or the Visa on Arrival. Cashless payments can be made online prior to travel or on arrival at designated payment counters at Bali's airport and seaport. See the Bali Provincial Government's official website for further information

Pretty sure there is no new Bali visas in 2024. Perhaps the OP is talking about the tourist levy @mrs.dr.ron mentioned. I mean surely a simple Google search would have found the info.
Probably, but it’s no bad thing if someone comes to AFF for advice. 😊 I haven’t followed closely but I am aware of some changes in the Visa - or maybe there’s no change in the Visa and maybe there’s just an extra tax.... 🤔

Is there only a tourist tax or is Australian citizen visa on arrival exempt
Aussies need either a pre purchased eVisa (or do it on arrival) plus the new lovebali (that's the website) tourist tax. Both require a payment. Then there is also the customs declaration which can only be done 3 days prior or again on arrival.

Agreed.

The problem I think was there was a rumour circulating on several sites that Indonesia was going to change the visa rules in mid February. it looks like it was just the introduction of the tax and not as some were hoping to go back to visa free entry. Unfortunately I doubt they will ever give up that source of income.

Anecdotally I've heard from a couple of people that the airport is not collecting the tourist tax, even though it came into effect on the 14th Feb. Seems to be some sort of disconnect between the fed gov running the airport and the state gov collecting the tax.
