This possibly takes the prize for most outrageous pricing...

If you book Sydney to Honolulu under QF flight number (operated by Jetstar) in J class, total fare is $9377.
Book the same flights in StarClass under JQ flight number, fare is $2547

This is absolute madness!

I'm not defending Qantas by any stretch of the imagination, but do you think that paying $9377 for a 747-300 trip back and forth to HNL is any better value?

The seats are suprisingly similar. Jetstar meals, drinks and cabin service are an unknown quantity at this point.

I think the moral of the story is that Qantas loves charging hefty prices for the perception of quality travel. Regardless of whether they are the driver or leave it to a third party (and also regardless of whether they take you in a Falcon or a Fairmont. )

Oh, and I'm not sure it's too different from another practice I've seen at different times (I think mainly by mistake) - the offering of F tickets on routes that have no F cabin!
