Mum is 77 and is in excellent health. Now the world has opened up she's like to do a couple of trips to visit relatives in the US and UK. For a 3 week trip to the US Covermore quoted around $1500.

Any suggestions for other companies to try? I think TID don't cover 75+.

Looks like Allianz do Tips for Buying Travel Insurance Over 75 | Allianz Global Assistance

According to Choice
1Cover, AHM, Allianz, BUPA, CGU, Medibank, Travel Insurance Saver - no age limit
Amex, Aus Post, - age limit is 84
Fast cover - age limit is 79

Travel Insurance Saver for example cover a 77 for 3 weeks in USA for $982 - have no experience with them.

Suggest you just get quotes then read the reviews.

I'm in that vintage also -- and just discovered "Tick Travel Insurance" .. which appears to handle older folk, and their coverage looks reasonaby priced. Even covered my pre-existing condition without loading (unlike Covermore).

Their website is at: Cheap Travel Insurance | Canstar Award Winner | Tick Insurance

It's great to have apparently good coverage and price, but the proof of the pudding is often in the claims experience.

Does anyone have any feedback?

We used these for an annual policy as they don't discriminate against 75 year olds. We had a couple of questions and they responded quickly. Hopefully never have to claim.

Thanks. Will check them out. The idea of an annual policy appeals. I had one pre-covid which was cancelled by the insurer. I didn't need it anyway, for the past two years, but the itchy feet are kicking in again !
