Intercontinental Hotel, Sanctuary Cove

Thanks markis, you keep mentioning PP but I am not a member. Around $220 is about all it's worth in its current state but when I was there on the weekend just gone it was very quiet, should have been a bit cheaper because everyone who wants to stay in 5 star at the cove would already know the condition of the place via previous stays at Hyatt. I believe they would rely a lot on return guests.

Regarding 20% rebate.......in the words of good ol Pauline Hanson..... "Please explain".

IHG hotels booked via the mr rebates link at last months special offered a 20% rebate on the bill, its back down to 6% now but it works for Ambassador BOGOS and reward stays, and all adds up, I average $1000-2000 a year back.

Ebates currently offer 9%

Ok understand now. No I only use ebates but this booking I was silly enough to book direct with priority club. I usually only get back around $500 - $600 pa

Its the next three months worth for Sanctuary Cove, at $99 a night, a beautiful lagoon swimming pool and being close to the theme parks where Markis10jr and I get free access its a bit of a bargain, and will go a long way towards requal for RA next year, which means I get another referral cert to give away to an AFF member!
Cool! Speaking of give aways, I have 3 PP certificates (2 nights for price of 1, 25% off best flexible and Member for a visit dining) they do expire at the end of the month but I can express post them if anyone is interested (I'll pay for express post).

I am off to the Intercontinental Sanctuary Cove tonight :) I am slumming it in the standard garden room :( I am a Platinum member, but it seems this gets you absolutely nothing unlike other hotel programs though

Jama, did you note on your booking you are Platinum? Will be interested too see whether they upgrade you to next room category on checkin, and wine/choc on arrival.... Do ask if they don't as you are entitled to it. Please let us know the outcome.Have a lovely stay :)

I am happy to report that I asked for an upgrade and got it. Asked for a late checkout and got that (a couple of hours extra as the room had someone coming in). Asked for lounge access, but didn't get that. The staff were excellent and the two restaurants were both good. The only thing I would pick is that they need to splash some paint around as things do look very worn. A huge renovation is not needed in my opinion but I guess things like paint and professional grout cleaning for the entire place are pretty huge undertakings. I would definitely go back and recommend.

What did they upgrade you to, my garden room for this week has turned into a Queensland Suite.

From Garden Room to Lagoon Room. Suite would have been great. Your a RA though aren't you. Isn't a suite automatic for RA's. When you get your RA invite next I can test it for you ;)

Suite or Club access is the norm for RA, not sure what is best at the cove as I did not really use the club last stay.

One or the other ? Given you get free mini bar. I would imagine that the suite option with the extra space would be best. The only extra you get from the lounge is breakfast the drinks are already covered by the mini bar allowance.

One or the other, but also depends on location, Sydney its club while Melbourne its a suite, adelaide normally give me both.

Some changes already since my last stay, the Club lounge is now located near the bar, good move I suspect, too late for canapés tonight but will report on it tomorrow, took a club room as the breakfast is more valuable than the space this stay.

Great photos Markis10!

That food is really a "fattys paradise" !!! Proberly explains why I go to the gym 6 days a week!

They didn't have the sushi when I was there! My fave!

Not to much fat on the scallops with parsley purée, but they are pretty much on their own in that although the Thai beef salad might be ok.
