Interlining 3K to JQ

Apparently it's possible ..according to some call centre staff, no to others. Asia ground crew have zero idea how to do it and flat out refused and I couldn't be stuffed arguing due to the huge line behind me and lack of counters, yet the Australian check in staff did it with no problem.

My horror story with 3K, ... first leg got canceled and they neglected to inform me until I tried to check in, and wouldn't honor the second leg back to AUS... eventually letting us pay change fees... Nightmare trying to fix it all up .. to think I flew them to save a few bucks bah.

And they have a complete monopoly on Darwin international travel .. sad face

On the bright side, AirAsia X is remarkably good for a budget airline and a much better option to fly now ;)

Thanks for the info. How long ago was that? And where abouts was the 3K check-in that couldn't interline to JQ? So far it seems that at least BKK and HKT know about interlining.

I'm contemplating a *Class trip to KL at Easter with JQ/3K. (I'm almost ashamed to admit such an atrocity but the deals aren't too bad at the moment for the dates I (For I, read MrsH) need.

The layovers in SIN are quite long, particularly on the return trip and in a previous experience I couldn't get my bags interlined with QF. (Jan 2010) (KUL-SIN-ADL-MEL)

Has anyone had success at interlining 3K - JQ from KUL?

Yep. KUL checkin staff allowed us to transit onto JQ61. So it's possible.

I would suggest arguing, arguing and more arguing if they refuse. It is not fun waiting at SIN checkin with all the fun and goodies inside the terminal, for 8 hours. Not fun at all.

Also, if you are flying from KUL, maybe try AirAsiaX, premium? They aren't that bad for a budget carrier, much better than JQ. And no middle seat! Unless you want QFF points ;)

Interesting and useful thread.

In the best Isaiah Mustafa (Old Spice) impression I can muster:

"Look at your tag, now look at the OP's needs, now look back at your tag".
"Sadly, your baggage tag isn't the OP's"

Just an update for those who might be interested.

I was able to check in at HKT and check bags through to Melbourne, no special request, infact when I mentioned it she kind of looked at me like "I know how to do my job!". There were at least half a dozen others there who were on the same flight combo who also did the same, and some that didn't chose to enter singapore even were able to get their boarding passes at the transfer desk!!!!

I think The Winchester was overly dismissive given Austman was recounting his first hand experiences. No doubt had good intentions but I notice he hasn't been back for a mea culpa once it worked how Austman indicated.

I didn't read this entire thread so apologies for my post, these are my and friends experience for flights flown on 9 May 2011

My flights:-
3K KUL-SIN connecting to BA SIN-SYD : refused check through (no big deal given hand carry only)

Friends 1,2:-
3K KUL-SIN connecting to JQ117 SIN-AKL : refused check through!

Friends 3:-
3K KUL-SIN connecting to QF SIN-PER : reluctantly checked through.

I've got a flight KUL to SIN (3K) and SIN to PER (JQ).

I spoke to 2 different people on their price beat guarantee line (gotta love Tiger for that) and they said No.

Their website: http://www.jetstar.com/au/en/siteco.../Home/Planning-and-Booking/Flight-Connections
Baggage transfers and/or check-in for multiple flights may be available when booked on one itinerary and where sufficient connection time is allowed. These connections will only be offered for selected airports and are only available for the following connections:

Jetstar International
to and from
Jetstar International

If they can check my baggage through from KUL all the way to PER, then I will book 3K for KUL - SIN.
If they can't, then there is no difference between them and AirAsia as they have more flight timings for me to choose from.

Anyone knows for sure if they do it?

Hi xt_20,

The rules at Jetstar seem to change over time. For me:

Easter 2010 - Perth to Singapore to Penang - no

Easter 2011 - Perth to Singapore to coughet and then Bangkok to Singapore to Perth - yes

I think they did change what they offer at SIN and you should be OK.

Ok, I took this flight last week. It was actually interlining 3K to 3K as SIN-PER was a 3K flight too (not JQ).

I checked in via the internet a day before for both flights. At KUL, I told the check in person and they tried checking me in for the SIN-PER flight but couldn't (to be fair, they did try). I then arrived at SIN, went to the transfer counter and asked for my baggage to be transferred and they obliged.

My luggage then appeared in PER :)
