+1 - I RSVPd today.

Worth going if only for the prize draws - though this'll be my 6th year in a row and I haven't won anything yet...

I remember years ago when I went to this in CBR. They had a big wheel w' all the many exotic destinations QF flew to then. We waited to see if we would be the lucky one to get to spin the wheel .... the guy who got the chance spun it really hard, round and round it went and alighted on SYD! I wanted to start up a chorus, 're spin, re spin', but felt inhibited. If the same thing happned today, I would def shout out.

I ddn't get an invite, but, if anyone would offer I'd happily meet you in the foyer at your convenience to go in on your coat tails ... thanks.

It was my first year last year and I won 2 nights at the Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort ($3900 value). The resort was that good I'm planning on spending my 30th birthday there.

Wow!!! Very upmarket resort. That's where Michael Clarke had his wedding.

Well the show was this afternoon and a great time was had. The food was awesome as usual, I don't know how they do that gourmet chicken but I would happily eat it anytime (with the resultant weight gain a bad side effect).

I saw a few other AFFers and one of them won a prize. :D I'll let them identify themselves.

There were two staff from the CBR QF J lounge there letting everybody know about the meeting rooms. Always great to see the friendly angels.

Sadly I had other commitments this afternoon so only managed a very quick visit and didn't get to meet anyone else from AFF this time.

I had a good chat to the BA reps about their new A380 First layout and the AA reps about their updated First product on the 773-ER which is coming early next year. AA's 773s will be using the same J layout & seats as CX's 777 New Business with a 1-2-1 configuration and aisle access from every seat. They're also rolling out a new 3-class transcontinental A321 configuration with 1-1 seating in F and 2-2 seating in J which sounds like a huge improvement from being stuck on 767s for their cross country flights.

BA's A380 First seats are to be a modified version of the current New First design but with swivel capability a la QF A380 to take advantage of the wider cabin. They didn't know for sure where F would be situated but it sounds like they were pushing for a 1-2-1 config similar to New First so most likely it'll be lower deck as per QF where the aircraft is wider. They're also very happy to be getting the first of the 'updated' 388s with 'less cracky wings'.

Both airlines presented really strong plans for the near future and the fact that both of them are rolling out improved First product is in stark contrast to QF who are in the process of slowly clearing the F cabin from their fleet. Reading between the lines it seems BA is gearing up for QF to become a 'single stop' airline - that is, only flying routes to/from Oz where they get to the destination and fly back home again - and BA will pick up the slack with more capacity LHR to/from HKG, NRT and other SE Asian hubs.

To cap it all off, my daughter is now the proud owner of an AA 777 model - I'm very pleased my 6 year prize drought has finally broken!

As always a very interesting event so thanks to QF for the invite.

Sorry we didn't get a chance for a chat...
But I did talk to a FTer who I met at OzFest this year. We were both at the AA stand and he overheard me talking about SJU.

I won a night at the Swissotel Sydney including breakfast and Mr Fifa won a night at Silver Needle group (Chifley, Country Comfort, Australis, Sundowner) including breakfast so we are very happy :D

It was well worth the 2 hour each way drive.

I didn’t win a prize but I did catch up with Fifa and Mr Fifa (yes, at the AA stand), Hvr and the CBR QF J lounge staff. Sorry I missed you jamesatfish.

As Hvr says, the lunch was excellent.

All in all, a great show. It’s always nice to be invited.

Sorry we didn't get a chance for a chat...

The catering was very good. I liked the salt and pepper calamari, chicken cordon bleu was lovely. Little dessert tarts very good as well. I noticed the food kept coming out and there was more than enough for everybody.

None of the hotels I had an interest in visiting were offering special deals going though.
