And I imagine that would be a condition of the item being 'eligible'I can't imagine Qantas would be paying the RRP for a lot of items.
I found out that the rate varies with the category of purchase, but for a car or wine it's 0.73-0.74c per point.
Didn't enquire about any other categories, however you can do a part payment for your purchase.

Does say 'for a limited time only'. I know that they've not contacted me about this previously.Looks like this is an extension of a service introduced late last year (October to December 2021) - was for use by any member with 1 million+ points or Points Club Plus members.

Perhaps, but from what I can see I would have satisfied the criteria for several years, yet this is the first time they've contacted me.Invite only, Points Club Plus reward service

I don't this is cynical at all. Seem likely to me to be very factual. The cynic in me says this is another way to wear down liabilities, get lucrative payments from third parties, keep QFF so profitable and distract members from redeeming points for (gasp horror) actual flying!
My guess is that people who accumulate serious amounts of points are more clues than the average collector (though there will be some exceptions who are so busy flying that they accumulate more than they can value)Invite only, Points Club Plus reward service

Looks like uptake was lower than expected and they have opened it up to more people.
Or, they had this planned from the start!
I received the exclusive invitation today too, first time. They must really be scrapping the bottom of the barrel as I don't have that many points to make the effort in finding and getting approval for a reward worthwhile.I received the offer today, but didn’t receive the original so they’re obviously keen to offload some points - which is weird to me, surely holding the cash is better.
oh this is definitely about reducing liability to QF
