I’m in the middle of an AAdvantage flight from EDI (j) xAUH SYD (f) on Etihad. Two seperate tickets as AA only allow QF and QR via the ME on one ticket.
The flight from EDI to AUH was cancelled yesterday and after a bit of stuffing around Etihad sorted out a hotel in EDI for Saturday night.
I called AA and updated them (don’t get me started on the Etihad call centre or the EDI on-the-ground support) and they changed the AUH-SYD flight to Monday from Saturday (unfortunately no F left but J is ok)
Anyhoo - I’m sitting in AUH now with EY telling me that no, they don’t have to provide a hotel (12 hour wait) since it’s on two tickets even through it’s their fault cancelling the connecting flight.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this correct? I know BA were doing something like this a few years ago.
Thanks
Edit: at least I’ll get 600EUR EC261 but still...
