Dirty blankets reused by China Southern Airlines, laundry workers claim | News.com.auquote]
China Southern Airlines is investigating its laundry service after workers claimed they washed just 20 per cent of blankets used by passengers and that no disinfectants were used.
Insiders at the Beijing Yingtailong Airline Appliance Co allege that only airline blankets with obvious stains were washed, with the rest being packed for reuse, according to local media.
More than 2000 blankets, 3000 towels and dozens of sheets were sent for washing each day, a figure that the workers say is way beyond the laundry’s capacity. In reality about 500 of these items were washed, according to the workers.
Workers claim that although the airline is supposed to conduct random checks, none had happened for several months.

"We decided whether the blankets needed to be washed or not," a worker told the Beijing Times.
China Southern Airlines has launched an investigation into the claims.
"Our Beijing unit is investigating the issue and Yingtailong denied what the media report said," a spokesman for China Southern, the country's largest carrier by fleet size, said.
The laundry company says it will also conduct an inquiry and correct any irregularities found.
It says it follows rules and requirements of handling textile goods on planes.
