Etihad has been teasing an event on the 19th of October.

See below on their Facebook page :

'We trust the stars to define our journey.
A new constellation will soon adorn the skies.
#Comingsoon
19.10.2022'

I wonder what is this event about.
OneWorld is out and SkyTeam has MEA and Saudia...

Does anyone have any ideas?

If they do join they'd be the first new member since Air India joined back in 2014!

Yes that will be super interesting. Let’s see if they will become a full member or a Star Alliance connect partner.

Does *A have “connect” partners? That’s OW (ie FJ).

That was quite an disappointment to read this morning. Way way way overhyped!

I was actually happy to see the announcement was nothing serious. If Etihad joined the Star Alliance you could guatnree their AUH lounges would become a lot busier plus the potential of either a shift away from VA or a degrade of VA benefits.
