Is Green Marco Polo Club handy?

This is more of a Marco Polo Club rather than Asia Miles question but -

I was just wondering whether the $50 joining fee is worth the limited perks for green tier being designated check-in club counters, priority boarding and personalized luggage tags given:
- the priority boarding lane is often longer than ordinary boarding given % of Gold and Diamond pax on intra-asia flights
- flight from HKG will likely involve check-in at Hong Kong station
- no prospect of reaching silver

I would only be doing a couple of flights (NRT - HKG and HKG to ICN with possibly a TPE chucked in there). My alternative would be to credit the small mileage haul to my Asiana account and fly *A (e.g. ANA and Asiana).

I think the comments of priority boarding queue being longer than economy is a bit exaggerated tbh... Sure it can happen sometimes, but more often than not, the priority boarding is shorter than the regular economy lines for obvious reasons.

But no, I don't think its worth $50.

Given the choice, I would credit to OZ because of their 2 years to make status, not to mention the 7-10 year mileage expiry. And intra Asia Y, OZ's both soft and hard products are well comparable to CX (especially service), if not better overall.

it's a fair assessment for flights to China for example - the priority queue can be twice as long as economy (sometimes more). However - the regular line is never processed for boarding until the priority line is almost done - so in effect non-status all wait and priority have two (or more) processing points.

Marco Polo Club phone service centre is also better than the main service centre if you need to make flight changes or enquiries, usually a lower wait time too.

I am a gold QFF who is deserting the sinking ship, and looking for a way to get status with another carrier.
Currently i can transfer my rewards points to Emirates, etihad, asia miles, velocity, Kris, i think thats it.
Does anyone give you status for just earning points or do they all require you to use fly to gain status?

It has been said that simply crediting to Asia Miles can get you status if you go over the level required... but they are split for a reason (whatever it is). If you're aiming for status, there'd be less dramas just paying the joining fee, as Asia Miles DOES NOT offer status. It's just a place to store your miles.

I can get plenty of credit card points, so would normally fly using the points, but with qantas, this gets you no SC anymore.

If you fly enough on Asia Miles to make elite, they normally give it to you automatically, even if you had not joined mpc previously
