Is it OK for someone to step on your seat??

Sometimes you can be very surprised with the weight of the carry on....I helped put a smallish bag up that was more than 15kgs!

An onboard PA on an AA flight recently said "if you cannot lift your item into an overhead bin then it is not carryon & must be checked".

Fortunately, those of us who are less tall don't need the foot-space under the chair in front, so unless I'm carrying duty-free as well as my in-flight requirements, or I'm in an exit row, I can always put everything under the chair in front. But yeah, the things I want with me during the flight can be quite heavy: full-sized laptop if I'm travelling for work, toiletries and a change of clothes if I'm flying to Europe, a book or two for takeoff and landing, my iPad (to work or play games) or Kindle (to read and save carrying more books) for the time between, my headphones, spare batteries, power cables, pens and wallet, plus maybe a breakable souvenir or two on the way home.
