Hi All,

I need some advice from the brains trust on this forum.

I, like many on here, have hundreds of thousands of points sitting with velocity. With the current COVID-19 situation and virgins financial position I’m concerned that if the airline was declare bankruptcy points may disappear..

What’s the likelihood of this happening and should I withdraw my points by purchasing gift cards to get some cash value at what I have..?

am I making a mountain out of a mole hill.. or is there a real threat to my velocity points been wiped out..?

I ordered A David Jones gift card on the 6 April, Order still says pending and when i tried to order another one it says they are out of stock. Wondering if I wont get the one I ordered.. should have gone with JB. My daughter has a few hundred thousand. Says she cant bring herself to cash them in. Was saving them for a U.S trip.

I'm abit worried about redeeming more than one gift card per day at once... given everyone who's done it post restrictions has anyone actually received the gift cards? it seems it's an untested method... versus thinking of doing 6 or 7 individual jb cards and minimising the chance of getting knocked back =/ especially given how long the processing times are (only to find out you're knocked back)

Assuming the order numbers are sequential, just wondering what range is everyone's order number around? Just curios to see how many actual orders there has been.

Mine was 30th March - 47001177xx

It will show a tracking number if it's really shipped.
No tracking for me.

Yeah I worry about this as well
I had 360k to redeem
I did a stack of JB 100's but didn't want to do the entire lot with JBHIFI incase they deny most of them due to the loop hole
Ended up getting a kitchen aid mixer... Hurt like a mof_ to redeem that, but i guess it made sense to spread the risk around?? :(

I just can't do it - because I bought the mrs a kitchen aid mixer an dalready gets used. I looked at the sony soundbar, the dyson vacuum, the smeg coffee machine, and even the canon camera gx9 mark 2 or whatever it was. All are comparable if not cheaper by buying it at jb hi fi - and that's the online price without even bargaining or getting a special. So I'm tempted to just tough it out and slowly do one day at a time gift cards.... if they come then not only can i buy the same items at jb hi fi (so no rushed regret on a kitchen aid or something) - but hopefully get them cheaper.

The only thing worse than redeeming points on these are if jb hi fi goes under... fingers crossed they are too big to fail at this stage...

Hi ,If i book a flight using velocity points with Etihad ( as far into 2021 as i can go ) and its a Ey flight number not a VA what's everyones opinion if it will be honoured if things so horribly wrong with Virgin..Cheers

Just saw the westfield gift cards. Does anyone know if these are physical cards? We have 2 or 3 westfield shopping centres over here in Perth - i presume if one buys this card would all stores be required to accept the gift card that are in the shopping centre? Or is it discretionary?

The cost per card is higher - 21,801 points a $100 card, as opposed to say 19,900 for a jb - so tossing up the flexibility of multiple retailers than say just a jb... less risk too if JB were to run into issues?

Westfield gcs can be used anywhere eftpos cards are accepted. They do not have to be used in a Westfield.

If they are sent as a letter delays are common with Aust. Post and currently the delays are worse as they struggle to cope with the workload due to many shopping online.
Still about 2000 tonnes of undelivered freight in the AP system. Some parcels have a 3 week delay on them and likely to get worse before things get better

Yep, not from Virgin store, but I ordered something from a store 15km away with claimed guaranteed 48hr delivery via AussiePost. Was given to AussiepPost same day as order and received it 8 days later.

Ah, aren't there two?
1) Ones that can only be used in Westfield
2) Ones that operate like a debit card and can be used anywhere

Assuming tomorrows announcement doesn't mean it all stops..

Not anymore. That was a Westfield con and they finally dropped the pretence. The cards are red and can be used anywhere.

Do you think Mr Scurrah is a shareholder?

I sell on ebay for a living and have been sending more parcels than usual so definitely a good time for online retail.

What's the actual hold up? Is it not having enough delivery drivers or just not enough capacity to get it from A-B, or is it the pick up side?

Busiest day on record yesterday. Freight volumes through the roof
Also for Qantas Freight it was the most busiest day every, even beating the Christmas rush.

Really? That is highly misleading then - I got a card last week (won a prize) and it clearly states can only be used at Westfield!

No need to take my word for it. Just try it out for yourself. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Capacity with freighters and the cut in air traffic is a huge issue currently. Normally when it is peak season we can put the overflow on passenger flights but without that it’s going into the road network. Yesterday for instance there was record outbound freight awaiting at the depot but only limited room on QF freighters so a heap was left behind in ADL and then it just snowballs. Extra delivery drivers in the system would help aswell
