Hi All,

I need some advice from the brains trust on this forum.

I, like many on here, have hundreds of thousands of points sitting with velocity. With the current COVID-19 situation and virgins financial position I’m concerned that if the airline was declare bankruptcy points may disappear..

What’s the likelihood of this happening and should I withdraw my points by purchasing gift cards to get some cash value at what I have..?

am I making a mountain out of a mole hill.. or is there a real threat to my velocity points been wiped out..?

There's a punter on the Velocity Facebook page with a screenshot of an IM with them confirming items redeemed before the closure will be honoured. Hopefully it's real.

I ordered apple watch 15 April (added some of my own cash too) and received an email from Harvey Norman after enquiring with them saying "we have been advised today that Velocity will be contacting all members with outstanding orders placed after 12 April in the coming days." They redirected me to the Velocity page that talks about the pause. They finished with "rest assured your order will be despatched from us when we are advised, but please allow the new expected delivery time instructed from Velocity to expire before contacting us again" ie we cant help you until Velocity pays us......

Virgin and Harvey Norman both on my blacklist now! former long term Platinum member!!

I ordered Apple Watch on 16th. Still hopeful but will wait and see

I hope they honour those that have redeemed. I've emailed them as well. Hopefully i'll get a response and i'll share in this forum.

Also I feel for the staff - I do hope there's a silver lining in all of this; that the airline comes back more lean and competitive and that most of the staff be retained!

Yes I received the same email... looks like they won’t be honouring any orders placed after 12th April, until Velocity open their store in 4 weeks time.

It depends when you ordered your watch. If it was after the 12th April they won’t be able to dispatch your order. As noted on Harvey Norman’s email, they are just a drop ship Partner...
”...We have been advised today that Velocity will be contacting all members with outstanding existing orders placed after the 12th of April in their system over the coming days...”

So it looks like we will have to wait it out now.

Why 12th and not as of yesterday when they took the store offline. it seems a little unfair.

Here's a bit more data on the GC side of things. Ordered iTunes GC on the 5th. Address label on my envelope printed 14th. Post office stamped on the 17th. Order status changed to completed yesterday and delivered today! If velocity goes bust at least i got $50 out of it haha!

Why Harvey Norman? You can't expect them to ship you goods if Virgin hasn't paid them.
The reason Harvey Norman is used because they are the main partner when the electronic goods are issued

This is the email I received fromHN. No mention of 12 April.
I ordered on 14th 15th 16th 17th

I meant based on the OP, why blacklist Harvey Norman for not sending the goods when you can't expect them to if Virgin have not paid up (though they clarified it was due to the poor communications from HN).
