Hi All,

I need some advice from the brains trust on this forum.

I, like many on here, have hundreds of thousands of points sitting with velocity. With the current COVID-19 situation and virgins financial position I’m concerned that if the airline was declare bankruptcy points may disappear..

What’s the likelihood of this happening and should I withdraw my points by purchasing gift cards to get some cash value at what I have..?

am I making a mountain out of a mole hill.. or is there a real threat to my velocity points been wiped out..?

Saw a media announcement the store planned to reopen 1st September - how accurate, don't know.
If it was this article

Branson linked to two Virgin Australia bids

then it states “Earlier, Australian Aviation reported that Velocity Frequent Flyer members will be able to redeem their points on domestic flights from 1 September, after previously freezing the service when Virgin Australia entered administration.”

this article Velocity restarts domestic flight redemption from September by the same mob, says a similar thing

so only really flights redemptions, not reward store, I’m afraid.

given all the speculation Virgin won’t make it to end of June with the lack of cash it has......presumably has $100m cash and spending $15m per week.

If the planes is the main expense (just my uneducated guess) why doesn’t Adminstrator just ask for the lessor of its planes to suspend rent due to act of god......no different to what commercial tenants are doing.

September 2021 if at all to be more accurate when the rewards store reopens

May i ask what you ordered?

Sure I "attempted" to purchase the robot vacuum and the Bose Headphones. But nothing arrived and no comms except the one asking if I could accept a diff colour. NO idea if I actually purchased anything or not LOL.

Hi all, long time listener first time caller.

I placed my order on the 20th near on midnight after doing battle with the web store crashing a bunch. Got the first item today (coffee machine) - order email said it was to be fulfilled by Harvey Norman, sent from Druin P/L via Parcel Post. No sign of the date they sent it.

Still waiting on a pair of headphones and a gift card.
Headphones turned up today, sent from Druin P/L as well. One gift card left to go.

I hope you get what you want soon :)

im 1xGC received short on my orders,

ive emailed "velocity rewards store" enquiry email,
got generic, we will contact you within 3 business, days, thats like 2 weeks ago,
fired off another few more no replies,

is there any other ways to actually follow this up?

I'm now done with my three points burn orders.

New Dyson arrived Friday fortnight ago (from Hardly Normal), another item from Hardly Normal on the following Monday, and the final item yesterday.

All ordered on 8/4. Interestingly the tracking on them shows a mixed bag of speed from Aus Post from days, to weeks.

I'm sure the Doomsdayers may say otherwise, but it's pretty hard to see items not arriving in due course. (disclaimer to this however is lost post with Aus Post - that's certainly a potential headache).

I guess everyone else also received the "Our latest updates and offers" email from Velocity? It talks up how it's "great news" that Velocity redemptions are back online, and then goes on to mention that Velocity just won a bunch of awards.

It seems rather tone deaf to me.

It's Ministry of Truth level stuff - but I try to look at it from the marketing team's side (or whats left of it); what else are they going to do? They're not going to admit that they can't really do anything useful, nor would they admit nothing is better than something - they're trying to keep their jobs remember (this is always true for marketing depts). So they did the best they could to put out the most positive thing they can without lying.

Yes, it has zero credibility.

I would personally prefer they just told the truth - even if it's bad news - as I value honesty very highly. Sending out stuff like this just undermines the credibility of everything they put out in the future.

(Clearly I'm not cut out for a job in marketing! :p)

Just gave Collinson group a call, since they have ignored my emails,
absolutely hopeless, to a point I asked "do you even think before you reply"

after telling them, that I ordered 8th Apil/9 April, for about 30 orders, and 3 not arrived, whilst the rest arrived like in late april

they tell me , "all 30 orders shipped on 18th of May and will take 7 business days to arrive"
followed by
"we can only see 20 orders in the system"
"did the letter inside say which order number? (inside envelope was just a generic flyer with no information on it)"

I have received 100+ GC deliveries and other paraphernalia (that I really didn't need). NONE have had pre-delivery emails or tracking details, nor have any had order numbers whatsoever. The whole delivery system seems a shambles, such that I seem to have more GC than I can account for. I would suggest you politely press the point as there seems to be quite a few delivery discrepancies.

surprisingly, they called me back pretty quickly as promised, and said they havent received all teh aust post returned mail yet, and should soon, and that they will refund the points in 2 weeks time and will keep an eye on it

and yes, asking me what order number was on the letter inside when there isnt, was a bit laughable!:)

But Velocity redemptions are available again and they did just win an award, so they're not lying. Also Velocity isn't under administration (so no jobs at risk at the moment).
