Is it worth having 15 hour stopover in KUL?

The two reasons you choose a layover in KUL: Shopping, and eating.
(Same two reasons for a layover in SIN imho - although SIN has more to see)

I had an 10-hour stopover on the way to HGH on Air Asia.

Plane arrived at sunrise. Needed to be back for next flight just before sunset.

Jammed my luggage into a storage facility, then took the shuttle bus to the train, train to Sentral, then train to the Petronas Towers / KLCC.

Grabbed some goreng pisang (fried bananas), teh tarik (local tea drink with milk) and kueh dadah (coconut and palm sugar in a pandan pancake) for breakfast.

Headed into Berjaya Times Square (huge shopping mall) on the monorail, wandered around there and Dang Wangi (a cheaper shopping mall), and went over to the computer mall across the street.

Ate at a local "restaurant" (laksa, or char kwai teow I think).

Wandered back to the Monorail. Headed back to Sentral. Caught the bus back to KLIA LCCT. And still had time to kick back in Jolibee on the free wifi.

Superb day. And it more than satiated any Malaysian food picas for that month.

If you have the stamina, if you sleep/get restless on the plane and need time to stretch, if the layover is mainly during daylight hours AND if you like Malaysian food - then I think you should do it.

If the layover doesn't tick all those boxes, perhaps an airport hotel or a shorter stopover will be better though.

Personally I would not do it unless I knew that I would never go back to that city again.

I had an ~16 hour stopover in HKG one time and the last thing I wanted to do was go sightseeing. Spent ~8 hours in cheap hotel and got back to airport ~3 hours before flight.
