Is ORC a thing with Virgin

Newly minted VA plat (via status match) here and have been doing a few bookings with VA to try things out.

I deliberately recently booked MEL-CBR-OOL and return as it was no more expensive than direct and I figured I could sample the CBR VA lounge and earn a couple of extra sectors and SCs for contributing to VA status.

They changed the flight times and have re-routed me onto MEL-OOL direct flights both ways. Is claiming the ORC a thing with Virgin like Qantas?

Yes I've request for ORC previously when my OOL-ADL-MEL flight was rerouted to BNE-MEL

From my understanding there have been mixed reports, which can be very frustrating.

Have claimed successfully twice with VA but only after last minute cancellations, not in advance changes that you accept...

have successfully claimed twice, HKG to MEL to Sydney, when they routed it HKG to Sydney, I just called up after the flight, and described the situation, giving them details of the original booking, both times status points appeared right after the call.

this is with them changing it 4 months before the flight and calling them after flights started to post.

I might have a crack at that too. My business class flight originally routed OOL - SYD - MLB got rerouted direct to Melbourne. Flight was cancelled just prior to check in. It was myself and daughter so only received 140 instead of 200 as planned.

Phone velocity members I enquires and ask for those extra status credits, you are entitled to them....explain your original ticket earned more than the rerouted flights,
