Is Priority Boarding Needed in Australia?

I’m happy to do away with PB if carry on luggage is strictly enforced and J passengers have dedicated overhead bins that is strictly enforced.
Only recently on a QF flight I had a Y pax put their luggage above my seat and on getting to me seat there was no room so I removed their bag on handed it to the staff to place it elsewhere.

Bold move. As far as I'm aware on most airlines, there is no policy to use the bin closest to your seat (not that I agree with it, just stating how it is). The only time I've seen them reserve space is for exit rows.

I've been on VA birds that have business bins labelled for business use.

I wonder if any airline has trialled allocating and labelling / marking ONE STANDARD carry-on in the overhead bins, per seat. You cannot put in more than your marked space.

Of course it would be a shemozzle to start with and there would have to be strict screening at the gate, but it may work on LCCs, where the pax are somewhat used to being bullied by strict rules??

I don’t know what the individual airlines policies are but J bins should be for J pax only and staff need to ensure that J pax are looked after first.
Some airlines actually have “For Business only” on their bins

I'm sure I encountered that in Europe somewhere where they labelled your bags and if it had a certain colour sticker it wasn't allowed in the overhead locked
 
Id love to see bins labelled with seat numbers with dividers inside so people cant cheat and bring on oversized/more items.

And crew should have a dedicated bin/cupboard and not be taking up J overhead bin space.

On AA last August out of ORD they were actively taking people's carry-ons off them and checking them at boarding due to a full flight, but when they saw my ticket was for a J seat, they waved me through, their FAs police the J bins for J passengers only.

Had a VA flight to Hobart last September (approx), weighed the carry-on sized bag while waiting in the mega checkin queue at 7.3kg, knew other members of our group were checking-in luggage so went to check mine in … and on the checkin scale it was I think 6.2kg. Asked the guy what he recommended; he said kept it with me, I was kinda surprised he suggested what was best for me and not the company / everyone else.
I guess as not-flight-crew he doesn‘t have to “deal with it”. :)
 
In my perfect world, all of the under floor luggage would be in specific bins, per seat. That way if you don't show up, an FMC selection of seat number and 'jettison' would get rid of no show's luggage. Also useful in flight for those that make a pain of themselves.

If they did this, they'd have to significantly reduce the carry on dimensions. The current system relies on some people not utilising the overhead bins or stowing smaller items.
 
But then from row 6 onward, you get the space hoggers who place their oversized carry-on at the front of the Y cabin and keep marching on to their seat at the middle / back of the bus.
The FA's should do random spot checks to see who owns which bag. If no-one within about two rows claim a bag, it's removed & checked in and can be collected from the belt afterwards.

Removed and checked in... try removed and bad not going anywhere. That's a security risk if there is a bag onboard with no owner.
 
JAL uses 5 boarding groups for domestic flights and I've seen a dense domestic config A350 boarded in 15 minutes.

I believe it's Emerald, Sapphire, Window Seats, Rear Cabin, Everyone (in that order).

You might need to get Japanese people to board domestic aircraft in Australia to get that to work as well here. :)
