Is there a cycle for better AMEX signup bonuses?

Hi team,

My 18 months wait for applying for a new Amex is up, however the offerings across the board - whether Qantas or for AMEX points - is really poor. Cards which used to have 175,000 bonus AMEX point offers are now at 75,000, and the Qantas Ultimate has dipped from 120,000 to 75,000 bonus QFFs.

Is this a normal or cyclical thing? I'm happy to wait, but hoping these aren't the new normal and better deals are on the way.
