Is transitting at Cairo (Egypt Air to Egypt Air) straight forward?

I think I don't need a transit Visa. Do I remain airside? Any "gotchas" I should be aware off? Assume same terminal...Would you choose a 6 hour or 2 hour transit? (all on same ticket). Thanks in advance.

Well I will answer my own Q ..it was so easy and quick...T3 to T3 for Egypt Air at Cai ..follow signs to TF connections...show BP and passport at entrance to an officer...directed up some narrow stairs (we took Lift as had lots of hànd luggage), and when we got up a level, another officer checked our BP and passport again, and we were in the Departure area...took 2 mins max with no security check! Will be more difficult and stressful if you have to change terminals. ;)

Thanks for the update. We might have to do the same connection in a couple months if we cancel Israel and have to find another way to the ME. Egypt Air is one of the options.

I just got an e-visa for Egypt and it was really easy, back within 24 hours.

You can do Visa on Arrival but everybody has told me it’s much easier if you get the e-visa before you leave.

Maybe for the main non-Egyptair terminal. But for the dedicated MS terminal it’s very easy… took us less than 30 seconds after getting to the arrival hall. They take cash or credit card. We were plane to car in about 15 minutes.

Same for the reverse… curb to airside in about 15.

But as others have pointed out, that’s the MS terminal. The main international one can be much longer.

I’m flying QR (and out with RJ). As long as it doesn’t take me longer which I’m sure it won’t, I think the e-visa was the way to go. All you needed was an online form, scan of passport and payment, no photos required. Easier than an ESTA really.
