I'm absolutely astounded by the hoops you are made to jump through for what should be a simple claim.
Recently had to cancel a trip to Ireland for St Patrick's day due to health reasons and there's the standard 50 GBP excess to pay, that's fine. What irks me is that on top of that they then want you to fill in a separate medical form, which your GP has to do (and charge handsomely for) and they will not cover the cost of it. We have medical certificates and letters from the hospital and GP stating the period she will be off work etc which covers well past when this trip would have been but apparently that's not good enough. All up we are now looking at 100 GBP to cancel a trip that was only worth 350 GBP to begin with.
When I factor in the cost of my time etc. it really does not seem worth doing.
For something that was already a very stressful event, I think this is just shameful. Shame on you AXA insurance (provided by AMEX Plat Charge Card)!!
