Is VA axing HBA-ADL?

VA’s direct HBA-ADL flights look like they’re coming to an end at the end of April, annoyingly, the week before I next want to fly that route. I wonder if it’s a seasonal thing or whether VA is cutting the route altogether. The direct flights were terrific. It also explains why I couldn’t get VA to suggest HBA-ADL-DPS as an option the other day.

It may well be VA optimising passenger loadings . It’s happened to us in 2022 our ADL-HBA flight changed to ADL-MEL-HBA,
The benefit to us was the additional two sectors helpful to qualify for platinum.

It seems that LST potentially has longer schedule run (building that connection hub at LST 😉).
ADL always cops the seasonal or reduced routes - CNS, DRW, Tassie to name the majority. JQ always has great loads on these services.

ADL-HBA is a seasonal route and was always planned as such. Last flight is 26th April and is scheduled to resume on 7th October.

LST-ADL/PER follow a similar pattern as ADL-HBA, and ADL-CNS/DRW resume in June.

Thanks all. I find the seasonal designation kinda funny because I do most of my travel from the smaller island in winter and spring. I have to get my vitamin D somehow.

I’ll try and see the silver lining in all this. More segments = more status credits.

I had an email yesterday from Virgin re-routing my ADL - DPS June flight via Melb (annoyingly so !) and looking briefly either side of my date there were no direct flights from ADL to Bali so I would guess that's another reason you couldn't get that segment you mention above.. not sure what's going on with ADL - DPS ...

That would be super annoying!

Likely too much capacity. Jetstar has upgraded to a A321N and Batik recently joined the party.
Interestingly Batik Indonesia has pulled/withdrawn the SYD/MEL to DPS services over the NS24 season and converted the two-class services to NW seasonal in favour of ADL and PER over the NS, as well as operating x3 weekly CBR-DPS from early Q3 2024, I'm assuming Batik are preparing for VA and/or more JQ services on the PER-DPS route.

Yeah I was just looking to book this and it seems direct flights have been axed which is quite annoying as I would rather fly VA than others.
