According to a post on FT, from the 4th US time the promotion for buying miles will be a mystery bonus promo, where you get 25-100% bonus after the miles have been bought.

Well that would be sh!te after a long period of often guaranteed 100% promo's....

Combined with no certainty of how they will be treated in the merger...

Wonder who thought this one up if its true???

At 25-100% it wouldn't temp me to "try my luck". The thought of receiving only 25% is too scary for me :D As one of the posters on FT said, maybe if its 50%-200% he would give it a go ;)

Yes, such a reward that the best we will offer you is what we have routinely be giving you all the time, but at worst the bonus will be totally underwhelming and the offer not that special at all...

Maybe the AA accountants are already starting to call some shots... The airline that was bankrupt telling the airline that wasn't how to structure its offers to keep customers happy???

I was wondering if there would be any more promo's after the merger was announced.

Guess we'll find out very soon. For a data point, I think (pretty sure) I purchased miles in every offer they threw at me last year. Why save points and status for a QF upgrade lottery, when I can booked, confirmed F, for the price of Y - Y+

Can't see there being no promos, not as good maybe but they haven't fired the promo department yet!

Actually you don't need to try your luck, you find out before u buy, 100% for me

I got 100% too. 50k + 50k. And it doesn't change when I log in and out. My family got 25% and 100%.

Just logged into my US Airways account.

Went to the 'Buy Miles' section. Asked for my name and account number.

Got 25% bonus when buying miles, then it changed to 50% bonus.

Sorry, I won't be buying miles.

75% for me and 100% for other account
If I could get 1:1 guarantee to AA I would for the other account - think I am going to hold (unless the AUS dollar goes back up)

For buying its 75% for myself whilst the girlfriend has the bonus at 100%

However it appears that you can buy and also gift a the same bonus % levels, thus if my girlfriend 'gift' points to me, I will receive her 100% bonus.

Hmmm, when i went to the buy miles screen it first asked me to put in names and USDM number as usual these days, i did so and as the screen behind came up the number up the top of 25% changed to 100% after a second...

Maybe 25% is the base level for any newbie buying in, but if you have bought some miles etc you will qualify for higher up to 100%???

Still not sure i will buy in...

I got a 75% and a newbie that I got to sign up was offered 25% ... no purchases here :(

Wonder if the percentage is sticking for the month for each account or will it change?
