I've found my ideal Travel Charger

ju

just out of interest how much did you pay for it (any links with specials appreciated)
I paid $120 for 2. (one for the mrs)

Looking at the invoice WSTDBTU40OFF seems to have been applied automatically at check out. (Anker AU)

That's what I've been wondering. I get that most of the above discussion focusses on the wattage etc that enhance speed of charging of devices but with going HLO more and more, simplicity is important to me and my 'old' adapter and output block does fine (with tape to cover the night-annoying LED)

It would be better with another USBC but I also carry a C to A converter.

Its 18W  . I'm certainly not the road-warrior that some here are, and travel with a tablet not a laptop but in general I charge overnight or directly when I'm using the tablet so don't see the need to buy a new, fast non-adapter unit. But obviously many do! But it should be a plug adapter as well.
I guess technically true.

I have one of the 'block' adapters too, but charging via it is so slow.

My 'charging station' set up when OS is - block adapter into outlet, a very short extension lead into that, which then gets attached to one of these.

This allows me to plug whatever into this, and the extension takes the weight off the block adapter - which otherwise never seems to sit particularly well in a wall outlet.

looks somewhat bulky, but do you have many devices/appliances with differing plugs?
Edit: talking o/s use here.

If I’m understanding you correctly, I normally travel with:
Surface Tablet (3 pin plug)
Apple Watch, AirPods and phone (have lightning to both USB A and C versions)
Camera battery ( 3 pin plug - this is a PITA)
Battery ( USB C)

Travelling for leisure only these days I can easily keep everything charged from the cube either overnight or between uses via the cube.

The cube is a bit bulky, but I can’t see much different from the devices where you carry individual Overseas plugs and also the charger behind it.

This allows me to plug whatever into this, and the extension takes the weight off the block adapter - which otherwise never seems to sit particularly well in a wall outlet.
yes, that’s the main problem with that cube I use. Some hotel power plugs are quite loose and it tilts out. But a bit of tape usually fixes.

Ooh...what kinda camera?

Re: tape - true McGyver style, nice!

Nothing particularly fancy - a Canon SX70 SLR. I tried iPhone only for a couple of trips, but for the cruises I do now, you need a more serious zoom. However, on looking that up, I recalled that it also has mini USB charging :)

I’ve started using a pass though wall charger with USB ports. Like this (but I have a different brand)..

Just take one adaptor and you can leave extra USB chargers at home and still have an AU socket spare.

  • 1 x USB-A socket and 1 x USB-C socket, total 2.4A :(
As I said, NOT that specific product but that style. That was just a quick Google to get the idea.

The one I have works perfectly fine.

I don’t travel with a laptop these days, so I actually often get away with just a standard 10w Apple charger (with interchangeable plug adapters).
