Jayne Hrdlicka to resign as CEO

I am always a little amused when senior management people resign that they take pride in announcing they've done the heavy lifting when in truth probably they have done very little physical heavy lifting in their life.
Just my weird sense of humour.

It's just an idiom, like saying, I've been to hell and back, nothing literal about it, but yeah, I get the humourous side of it also, very true! šŸ¤£

Yeah. No great loss to many AFFers I would expect.

Thank you, Jayne, for your ā€œfour years of heavy liftingā€ at Virgin Australia.

As a supporter of the national carrier, your continued resistance to order widebodies and relaunch long haul flights, as well as casualising the lounges and making food and WiFi a paid service has done great favours to the national carrier which will be realised in just a few months.

There is only room for one major long haul carrier in Australia anyway, just like how there is only room for one in NZ.

Keep in mind she is staying on with no known exit date, yet.
It will be interesting to see who her replacement is and their experience.

Are they even ready for a float?

Certainly questionable .

Considering a known poster and his insider on this forum at this time last year were sure that "VA will be listed in 2023!" We know how much that turned out to be an "epic fail" and indicates how far off Bain are handling internal issues on top of the external issues out of their control

Gotta challenge that. Not sure about the 'insider' - the one with the scoop on the 'roadshows'? Yeah, šŸ¤£

But seriously, the market for IPOs of any type last year was simply cough. I think there were 4 small/medium-ish ones that got away - just. Looking at the appetite for airline equity in particular, look how the market (as indicated by QAN) was going:

If you want to sell an investment property which was making good money, having a minimum price in mind, but you didn't really have to sell it now, would you offer it into a falling market? Or hang onto it?

Internal issues - maybe that's why the leadership is being changed - can't just hold it together with duct tape anymore, waiting for the float - got to move it forward, float or no float.

Blind Freddy saw that one coming.

A bunch of Bain plants have now been moved on, they missed all their windows (and hefty bonuses!).

Now it will be most interesting what type of management they put in - and what will their mandate and end goal will be. Firstly it will have to be to try and stabilise the operations which are a mess. But then whatā€¦ same strategy, different suit?

What a mess.
