From where?

Base cost ex SYD is 144K+++, ex BNE is 120K+++. (ex SYD, the +++ is $355)

There's an (unadvertised) 20% promotion making it 115,200 QFF points ex SYD and 96,000 ex BNE.

thanks, it's ex Syd.
seems to be same as Qantas business.
I was thinking it might be much less.

If the points are roughly the same as QF J, then which would be the better option? What is the difference in cost between a JQ Star Class and a QF Business class fare? And which represents better value in using QFF points?

Actually, when you include the 20% discount for FFP redemptions in *class, that makes the cost closer to QF Premium Economy than QF J (ie PE = 1.5 Y, *class = 1.6 Y). Now whether * class is a better option than PE noone is really in a position to say yet.
The other issue is whether QF actaully flies to the destination you want, or if it is only JQ. That was my issue in using FFP for MEL-BKK.

Earn them on J* and burn them on QF.

Star Class is pretty average - but if your paying it is a good way to clock up some FF pts and SC's.

I wouldn't use my pts for a J* flight. I would look at ways I could use them to upgrade a QF flight to J - much better value.
