Interesting/disappointing side note. TT were charging a $5 credit card surcharge, which I think is up on recent times. Other extras (like seat selection) seem to have risen too.

Out of curiosity I had a look and it appears that TT credit card surcharge is per transaction not per sector which for a return flight or with more than one traveller is not so unreasonable.

Although I think a %age based fee or none at all would be much fairer.

However I have no intention to fly them as I like space between my kness and the seat in front. 31inch pitch is the minimum I find comfortable, 32+ is best.

:p Regarding the 1 cent fares tommorow...

I have already wrote my dates that I can travel(just a day trip as these flights are usually first and last flight for the day which is good for a day trip), and saved my "details" into JQ booking engine for a fast booking tommorow. Also have decided to pay direct deposit, as its faster than going through all the credit card process. I did a dummy booking before and i can book a fare through direct deposit in a total of 19 seconds!!
Can someone help me please...
-Can you pay these fares through Direct Deposit
-I want to book 4 fares at once, should I?, mabye just 1
-Anybody know what DAYS they are available on (e.g-mon,wed)
-Anybody have a possible link yet
-And Finially the routes!!

Lets hope my extra fast Wireless internet can do it for me this time!

Would Really Appreciate a response,
Thanking You

Answers:

1. Yes, there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to. However I can tell you that direct deposit with JQ is definetly not faster than CC bookings. Flights booked with credit cards are confirmed instantly. Direct deposit flights are not.

2. Given there's only 5000 seats across the 6 sale routes I doubt there'd be four 1 cent seats on the one flight. Then again, I'm not JQ, I don't know how the 5000 fares have been allocated.

3. Not sure about availability, all I know is thats its for travel between 3 May and 3 June. Expect the worst though.

4. Not yet

5. The ones I think are on sale are AVV-SYD, MEL-HBA, MEL-LST, SYD-OOL, BNE-NTL. There's one missing (MEL-NTL?)

And regarding your 19-second dummy booking, I can pretty much guarantee that, IF you even get through to JQ's booking system (and I cannot understate how big an IF that is) it will take you far far longer, due to the traffic they will get and the inadequacies of JQ's website.

Don't expect that you'll be able to make several fast bookings because you're putting yourself up for severe disappointment.

With JQ's record, even one booking is unlikely.

One last thing for Today,
When i get through on JQ, and pay through Direct Deposit, it displays "Payment not received" or Payment Pending etc, are my 1c fares SECURE with me then, or has it got to be by the time i pay the fare, because im thinking that credit card way might be faster

Any Help would much be apperciated, I sound desperate, Currently a stressed out Year 12 student (hopefully a future flyer), who wants 1c fares for a Sydney Daytrip!

-If pay credit card everyone its going to total $6.02!!!!, basically $3.01 per person per sector!

Your fares are locked in whilst the booking is pending for direct deposit payments, however I believe they will expire if JQ hasn't received payment within 24 hours.

Personally I'd never pay via direct deposit. Too much uncertainty as to whether the booking is confirmed or not.

Considering that (IF you get the fare - can't stress that enough, I highly doubt the majority of users will be successful in booking any fare, let alone a return fare, let alone several return fares, but best of luck) the fares are one cent, it's a bit much to be concerned about the credit card surcharges...it's not often a return flight for $6.02 is looked down upon.

Come on JohnK, expressed as a percentage this is a huge increase in price :!:

Australia's highest-earning Velocity Frequent Flyer credit card: Offer expires: 21 Jan 2025
- Earn 60,000 bonus Velocity Points
- Get unlimited Virgin Australia Lounge access
- Enjoy a complimentary return Virgin Australia domestic flight each year

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

Maybe a call to the ACCC - the credit card fee as a % of price would be grossly excessive.

Yes we all know that credit card surcharges are a rip off.

But this person has a habit of posting to wind up others....

Right on cue, the website has crumbled:

" Sorry!

Thanks for your search.

Our current sale is proving incredibly popular, and our website is experiencing very high levels of demand right now.

We're working as hard as we can to help you find the fare you want.

In the meantime please try one of the following, as it may help you find what you're looking for:

If you've arrived here via the 1 Cent Sale JetMail, simply return to the JetMail and click the Book button.

Or

If you've arrived here and are not looking for the current sale specials, simply return to Jetstar.com to continue searching for flights.

Thanks for choosing Jetstar! "

I don't know why I even bother. Not once have I even seen the website load during such sales :(

As anyone here had any luck to restore my faith?

I'm sure the next time I see the website it will say "Sorry, the 1 cent fares are sold out".

Faith? In JQ?

...huh? :p

For me, the website was failing up to 10 mins before the sale started, so I'd be surprised if anyone here got their hands on anything.

Hahaha, good point regarding the faith comment. :P Can't help but try though, I would be happy to pay the Qantas fare pricing on the return flight :P

I'm in. Brisbane-Newcastle return. $6.02 including credit card surcharge on a Saturday in May.

Was going to do Direct Debit, but want the insurance that my Amex gives me ;)

Congrats, glad to hear someone on this forum has had some luck at least.

Jetstar seem to have done things better this time. By pointing people to a different webpage rather than the booking engine directly, that is what crumbles, not the booking engine. Once you are in the booking engine, things are pretty smooth - ie I was able to spend a few mins looking at days etc. Rest of the process was fine.

Thanks for the info. Did you use the booking link in your email or the one cent sale link?
