So our friends over at Jetstar have a 2 for 1 promotion going but I must be bloody stupid but it doesn't add up to me?

It says one passenger is $299 and two is $598 one way... (which double and therefore appears to be normal price?) - similarly if you proceed through to the check out, you click on the $300 2-4-1 noted price and it'll add the cost twice on side bar.

They obviously got their marketing staff at the 2 for 1 rate, now your seeing why

I found it very strange too. Particularly as I was looking for a nice fare to Japan - so they could have had my business. But now they've just confused me so I'm looking elsewhere! :)

Whats confusing about it? Usual prices are around $600 pp each way. The current offer is 2 people can travel for $600 (ie $300 pp). I did some dummy dates and found return for $1400 for 2 people (i.e. $700 each).

I took advantage of this offer a few years ago (they do it every year around this time for travel in May - July. Absolutely brilliant value, and one of the best holidays I've ever had. Osaka is a seriously underrated place - so few tourists there.

Its hardly 2 for 1 if one person can travel for $189.50 CNS to Osaka but two cannot as per the post.

So you couldn't find any fares at the current offer rate of $600?

They mean one person can travel for that price when 2 people book it as a 2-4-1 deal.

That's why it's misleading. :) I understand it's just the way they are marketing it but it doesn't mean I have to like it!

But one person cannot travel for that price, without having the second person.
Exactly. That is what makes it so confusing as it looks like there is no deal there at all! Whoever came up with this marketing gem needs to have their head read. I looked at the email for fully 5 mins trying to make sense of it and then gave up and moved on to something else!

Cheers

Timmi

Which is not clear as it should be, the ACCC will be all over it, you cannot advertise the impossible.

I am trying to screen shot this at the moment in case anyone has future disputes with JQ about this.

If you take the table out of the context of the page it is in. But the detail above the table does say you need to book 2 people to get the fares.

I'm I missing something here.

When I go to book MEL-NRT, I'm not seeing any discount when selecting 2 people.

For 1 person, I get about $700, and for 2 I get about $1400.

Anyone seeing the same thing

Checked on some random dates and looks ok to me. Make sure you go through this page Japan 2 for 1 Sale, and click on the [Book] link next to Melbourne -> Tokyo.
