Jetstar Asia launches Broome to Singapore flights

It'll require an overnight in SIN
SKL lounge in Changi being the Last Supper before you get parachuted down to Broome desert wilderness camp by jumping off the airlane. Makes it all the more brutal šŸ¤£ šŸ¤£ šŸ¤£

Better stick to Jetstar to get acclimated to the wilderness as apparently its worse than being stranded in the middle of the junglešŸ’šŸ’šŸ’

As privvy to info shared in recent tourism conferences, the general feedback from the Jetstar Asia Sales team, Singapore tourism and SEA Agents is bookings on this route are very minimal with little demand. They say it's been noted it's mainly due to high prices in terms of land operators, also claiming to not be sufficiently ready.

I'd believe that. Cheap airfares are completely irrelevant when it's $600+/night for hotel.

Well I hope they maintain the local investment and perhaps give Broome to Melbourne or Sydney a run.

All flights appear to be priced very low, even a few weeks out at $159. Seat maps on some look a bit grim.

If I could be confident that 3K would not cancel I would consider this as an alternative to getting into Singapore from PER. which I need to do in September(24).
QF 1652 PER 0730 BME 1005
3K 166 BME 1255 SIN 1730
A better connection deal than JQ to 3K in DPS and likely less expensive than QF direct
Any comments on this alternative wandering?
Fred

It's doable, but similar arrival time to QF71 and a lot earlier start. It's not like BME is a cheap destination either.

Maybe as a once-off wander, but I would be paying the premium for QF71 (or fly with SQ)

Mrs WF needs the 4 squiggles before we head off on a DONEx from Japan -
so 2 (more) qualifying flights PER-SIN are required
Plan before wandering

Day trip from SIN to KUL?

For your case though maybe the routing via BME might be the least painful.

My Brother flew this flight recently he said only 30 people on it.

Safe to say once again government funding is cut the route is over.
No surprises there then.

I guess that was one of the busier flights.

Who is it aimed at? I can't see much interest from the Asian end in coming to a tiny spot in Oz, and I don't see the point in any government subsidising flights so that locals can holiday overseas. Broome only gets any mention simply because even slightly nice places are rare on the west coast. It wouldn't even be a blip if it were in Qld.

I wonder if itā€™s the losses they fund or just a small portion and JQ takes the risk on the rest.

It's 3K instead of JQ. I'd suspect similar arrangements to the Victorian and Queensland Funds with the Airports tipping in a bit of $

Success or failure of the 3K flight may depend on how easy it is/will be for FIFO workers to get from their place of employment to Broome. Timewise it would certainly be better than having to fly to Perth and then fly over the same territory a second time.
Though perhaps a few of us that have never visited Broome (something about accommodation costs) might be up for a overnight with a bit of "look see" for bucket list.
Bucket lists provoke wandering

WA is generally quite popular amongst Singaporeans. I think Broome could have potential - it offers a different experience to say Bali, coughet, Krabi etc. Outback meets the beach.

But the destination is simply not attractive and the service wonā€™t work when nearly all of the accommodation is $500 per night or higher. It would need to have much lower (<$200/night say) options available.
