Jetstar beefs up business class

Indian destinations like BOM or another to DEL or even DAC could see good loads and give them good value.

If they can push the 788s, maybe they can open routes to northern Africa? I don't expect them to go after US. US travel is inherently expensive.

Also i wonder if this means cheaper JQ J if theres more seats to go around. If the right circumstances come around, good QF status run.

I meant flying to Europe generally (don't Scoot fly to Germany direct?). UK would make sense for an Australian carrier.

Current conditions would be right with sky high air fares.

I don’t see JQ flying one stop to Europe way too much competition with high operating costs, anything via SIN and scoot would eat them for breakfast.

Wild card, would the 788 have to range to fly PER-ATH non stop?

More point to point to asia is the most likely

3K would (most likely) continue on from SIN if that was planned and it would be with a lower cost base. 3K were quite good on the time I flew them.

Bengaluru, replacing Qantas, freeing up their aircraft.

Delhi +/- Mumbai

Manila replacing Qantas, ditto

MNL has always been in the discussion of QF to JQ conversions back when JQi started. Still survives as a QF mainline service till this day with decent loads, although the Business Class yields are still a question (whether if the cabin is mostly full-paying or if the cabin is loaded with FF redemption runs)

So they're installing a "lie-flat crew rest", presumably in the usual space above the centre seats at the back of the 787. Anyone know what that space would be in the aircraft today? No trace of anything or just a blocked off empty space where the new crew rest can be loaded?

I'm surprised they didn't have one installed from the start, but I guess it saves weight.

Yeh, Scoot does fly to ATH and BER. During European summer non-stop to both destinations, during winter it's SIN-ATH-BER. But if anywhere was to work for Jetstar you think it would be either UK or perhaps ATH?

Not entirely sure about that, It would mean putting 787's into the 3K flight (which currently is only A320s). And would the costs be that much lower? Aren't JQ's 787 cabin crew nearly all Asia based anyway? (SIngapore, Thailand and maybe DPS?)

We've just spent the better part of a year being told there's not enough competition on the route, so I beg to differ.

Operating costs aren't that high, JQ 787s already operate to SIN. Gatwick is reasonably cheap.

Although now I think about it, via BKK might be a better option with BA pulling out of that route. I'm pretty sure the ASA still gives Australia 5th freedoms.

From AU JQ only have MEL flights to SIN no feed from anywhere else, would be better flying direct from PER if they have the range.

Budget minded travellers are usually pretty happy to mix and match airlines, and plenty of other options going south of Singapore. It's the few options going towards Europe that I think they will benefit from. But also yes, perhaps the new route will be SYD-SIN-LGW thats timed to link in with the existing MEL-SIN route.

ULH isn't going to happen on JQ due to the fuel burn, so forget about any PER-Europe options.

MNL could be in the mix as an A321 route but they aren;t going to the expense of fitting flie flat bunks in to use them on short routes to Asia. The bunks are being put in to fly longer routes requiring flat rest for pilots.

Jetstar business is most certainly business when it comes to earning
But only if you pax for a max pack.

As an incremental $/SC it's great value, but suspect Its considered as part of the total fare.

Yeah, totally. Working out the value is hard. The other downside of max pack is while it's changeable they charge a second max bundle fee when you change.
