In August I booked 5 return tickets from Melbourne to Sydney travelling on Oct 26 and returning on Oct 28. I printed the ticket/itinerary and left it on the printer without studying it. 2 months on and just over a week from travelling my daughter discovered that the return date is Dec 28th, not Oct.

My problem is obvious and as the tickets were discounted there is no refund possible and to change to Oct 28th the cost would as much as $1500. I have used my Frequent Flyer points with QANTAS to book tickets for 3 family members and paid $320 for 2 tickets for the friends.

I believe that the date was a system error as when dates are nominated for a trip start, the Jetstar page defaults to the same month and date so I cannot believe that I physically made this mistake!

Has any one else encountered a similar problem and if so what recourse did you take or can I take if known. It's now not about the money it is a principal thing ..... Please help!!!

you're a bit caught there, i've not seen it put in the wrong date (i've booked the wrong date previously myself). you can still change the booked, but have to pay the change fee (if you didn't book a plus fare) plus any fare difference..

Thanks for that, it works out MUCH cheaper to use my points and buy 2 tickets than change the date!

Here I was thinking that the problem was you were booking Jetstar in the first place :o

ive had this kind of gremlin happen before where the dates change when you pick the first one.

fortunately they have a 24 hour grace period now so if you've made a mistake online, they'll change it for free

Is the grace period new? Reading the Jetstar Facebook page would indicate that even 10 minutes after a booking is made is too late! The Facebook page is covered with pax whinging about the lack of leniency ... Even with genuine errors!
